Cottage in the hertfordshire Countryside
We are a retired couple and live with our 2 adult sons. One of them is an artist and works in a studio in our garden, he will be present during the housesitting. Our other son spends very little time in our house as he works in Berkhamsted and spends the majority of his time at his girlfriend's house. We like to travel and that is why we need someone who can take the responsibility of looking after our dog during our absence. Our dog is 11 years old and an important and beloved member of our family. He is friendly and generally quite calm, easy to look after - but he doesn't enjoy being on his own. He needs 2 walks a day - morning and afternoon - and to be fed 3 times a day.
Our Home & Location
Our home is in the village of Potten End, 2 miles away from the town of Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire. A walk from Potten End to Berkhamsted will take approx 30 minutes or 6 minutes by car. Berkhamsted is a traditional English town- with a high street with plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops - also a Waitrose and Tesco Express- apart from a good street market every Wednesday and Saturday. We also have 2 nice pubs at walking distance from our house in Potten End, and a couple of other places where you can enjoy a coffee or a meal out. Our home is a detached house with a large and pleasant garden and terrace; the housesitter will have a comfortable ground floor bedroom(with direct access to the garden), ensuite shower room and easy access to the kitchen. The location of these rooms gives them privacy which is comfortable for visitors. We have a drive where homesitters can safely park their car. Potten End is surrounded by farmland and woods, a nice area for those who enjoy country walking.
Responsibilities & Pets
We would want the housesitter to spend time with our dog Billy, apart from taking him for a walk twice a day (9am and 5pm) ; he needs to be fed 3 times a day and needs to be given medication. We would prefer if the housesitter spends no more than 3 hours out as we would like for Billy to spend only short times on his own. We would leave clear instructions regarding his care.
