Regular Gig Maybe?
We are 'Trusted House Sitter' virgins! We have used the same house sitter for our dogs and cat for over 10 years (friend of a friend). However, this era is at an end and we are embarking on a search for wonderful, caring people/person to look after our home and pets.
Having a stranger live in our home and look after our pets is a huge deal so it is not without some anxiety we take this path! In a perfect world we would love a couple or single person we get to know who will do all of our house sits which amount to approx. 40 nights per year spread over a few occasions ranging between 3 and 14 nights. Usually we leave just Flo the cat but we need a dog/cat lover as we sometimes leave the two dogs too, although mostly take them with us....
We are dipping our toe in the water with initially just a 4 night stay. We would prefer that only those interested in doing multiple sits for us apply at this stage but if we are not able to find someone then we will consider multiple people. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our house is only 2 years old and has 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 lounges a study and a large kitchen diner. It is a lovely home and despite the environmental challenges of a cat, 2 dogs, a 15 year old boy and his mates, we are very clean and tidy people. 3 minutes walk brings open countryside with a number of nice walks on offer. We are also just 10 min walk from the shops/takeaways of Broxbourne and 20 mins walk (mainly off rd) to the larger town center of Hoddesdon. A huge benefit of our location is the 20 min walk to Broxbourne Station offering fast trains direct to London Liverpool Street and slightly less fast trains to The City of Cambridge. As we often just leave our cat who can be left for a number of hours it offers a fantastic 'holiday choice' for our house sitters.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our pets are hugely important to us. They have no special needs although Flo the Bengal Cat is temperamental and our dogs need decent walks and not just a spin around the block. They walk off lead and are used to 2-5 miles a day whatever the weather (except extreme heat). We would not want the dogs left for more than 3 hours at a time.
Jack and Greaves are well trained, beautiful rescue dogs. Greaves was a stray from the streets of Ireland and Jack found himself homeless after his owner got pregnant and decided she couldn't keep him! Jack is slightly on the needy, attention seeking' side, but both are a pleasure and very easy to care for....
Our house would just need to be well looked after and left as clean as it was on arrival. Depending on the weather perhaps a little watering of the garden. This is an easy house sit in a fabulous location. + More info
