House and animal sitter for Molly and friends.
There could be some flexibility with the dates for this house sitting.
You can walk straight out into the countryside from our house - and yet you don't feel isolated, the village shop and pubs are just a short distance away. We're on a bus route, but it would be easier and more fun to have a car. The animals are all healthy and undemanding, and rewarding to care for.
Our Home & Location
Our home is an old house in a pretty village within the South Downs National Park. We have a large garden and adjoining field where the cattle graze and the hens can roam. The village has a shop and 2 pubs and the surrounding countryside provides wonderful walking on numerous footpaths including the South Downs Way. The coast, Winchester and Chichester as well as historic properties such as Uppark and Hinton Ampner are within easy range and there is plenty to explore in the surrounding area with its many attractive villages, churches and good pubs.
Responsibilities & Pets
Mainly animal care:
Molly the Irish Terrier is 2 yrs old, fun, lively, sociable and well behaved. She sleeps in the kitchen but enjoys sitting by the fire with us in the evenings. She can go in and out through the dog-flap in the kitchen door into the secure kitchen garden. She has 1 main meal a day and likes a walk for 1 to 1.5 hours. She's very friendly with dogs and people....
The cat can come inside but she tends to stay mostly outside and sleep in the log-store. She is fed morning and evening.
The hens are fed when let out in the morning - to wander free-range. They take themselves back in at dusk and need to be shut up for the night.
The cattle (2 cows and their 4 off-spring) stay out in the field in the winter and need to be fed a wheel-barrow load of hay twice a day.
Overall the animal care probably takes an hour a day in addition to Molly's walk + More info
