Committed carers for our much loved dogs and other pets for one week in March
We are a family of 5 who live in a semi detached cottage near Winchester in Hampshire. We are going away for a week but sadly are not able to take our dogs with us. We'd love to find someone who would be willing to care for our animals as they would their own whilst staying in our house and keeping an eye on things generally for us.
Our Home & Location
We are brilliantly located for Winchester, Basingstoke, Andover and Salisbury and also within easy reach of Southampton, the New Forest, south coast and Oxford. We're only 20 minutes drive from Stonehenge. Our house has 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms and a large central kitchen which is the hub of the house. There's also a good sized garden and we are surrounded by beautiful countryside which is great for walking, running and cycling. There's a Q Hotel walking distance from our door where there's a swimming pool, spa and restaurant/bar. There is a garage/post office, village shop, beauty salon, playground and doctor's surgery in our nearest village (Suttone Scotney) and several cozy pubs nearby.
Responsibilities & Pets
We'd ask you to feed, walk and love our dogs, as well as caring for the chickens, fish and guinea pigs. Keep a general eye on the house, enjoy the garden and mow the lawn if the mood takes you!
Nala is our old girl. She's 11 years old and is the kindest, most gentle, loving and perfectly behaved dog you could wish for. Sadly she had to have her left eye removed last year but she copes astonishingly well without it and still loves long walks, swimming, chasing a ball or a stick and endless cuddles. Oh, and she'll do anything for a biscuit. Temba is Nala's daughter and is equally beautifully behaved although, if we're going to be honest, she has more of a naughty streak than her mother ;) She is gentle and quite timid, despite being a working gun dog, and has a million times more energy than the Duracell bunny. She loves the longest of walks, any opportunity to go in water and sitting on your feet. These dogs are an integral part of our family and we hate having to leave them behind so will only be happy with someone who we are sure will give them huge quantities of love and attention in our absence....
Our two guinea pigs belong to the children and are brilliant, squeaky, friendly boys. They live outside in their hutch and we put them into a run in the garden for grass-munching every day. They love to come inside regularly for cuddles too.
We have several sweet brown hens who are meant to live in their run at the end of our garden but are superb escape artists so are regularly found begging at our back door for titbits!! They are very friendly and easy to catch and are lots of fun to look after, especially as they kindly produce fresh eggs daily! + More info
