House sitting for 2018 and 2019
We have four grown up children and Stephen has just had his 60th birthday and we've decided that this is the time to do some big adventures. We have a boat that is in the Mediterranean at the moment and are going to sail this to the Canaries by end of September and in January set off across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and from there to Panama, the Galapagos, South Pacific and New Zealand. All the dates from summer on are approximate at this stage. I do have a lovely lady who helps in the house one day a week and can do occasional sitting and a friend with whom we share sheep who is around the property a couple of times a day and will always help out with any problems that may arise. Our initial trip is now firmly booked for just over 3 weeks starting 23rd May but ideally we would like to find a sitter or a couple who might be interested in doing some further longer sits over the next couple of years.
Our Home & Location
We live in a village with four pubs, a butchers, greengrocers, bakery, which is walking distance from the house, we are also 5 minutes walk from the station with direct trains to London Waterloo and Salisbury (approx 1 hour in either direction). We are in lovely walking countryside with easy access to both the Wayfarers Walk and the Test Way. We also have sheep, an alpaca, four stable cats and some chickens which we share with a friend so would not require much care by the sitters. We have a tennis court and outdoor pool (summer only) which the sitters would be able to use . The house is an old farmhouse, the kitchen has an oil fired Aga. A car is not strictly essential but would be useful. We may be able to give the sitters use of a car.
Responsibilities & Pets
Looking after the house, in particular our two dogs a jack russell bitch aged 13 years, and a yellow labrador aged 7.
