Dogs, chickens and house sitter for peaceful country house in Hampshire
Our house is in peaceful rural Hampshire and we have two springer spaniels who have never been into kennels whilst we are away but have been looked after by a neighbour who at nearly 80 has decided to retire. Martha and Flossie would very much like to be looked after by some dog friendly humans so that they can stay in their own home.
Our Home & Location
We live at the foot of the South Downs in an old farmhouse surrounded by garden, ponds and fields. The footpath opposite our drive leads straight to the top of Butser Hill and the South Downs Way from where you get a panoramic view across to the Isle of Wight. The nearest village with the river running through it is 1 mile away and has a small village shop and post office, church, school and two pubs. Petersfield is 10 minutes away with a train service to Waterloo, a Waitrose, Tesco, several good restaurants, and small boutique shops. Winchester, Chichester (with the popular Festival Theatre) and Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth are all half an hour away by car. So plenty of lovely walks and sightseeing opportunities in a beautiful part of Hampshire. Our small family run business operates from a separate building to the house and the girls are around during the week to help out if there are any problems
Responsibilities & Pets
Martha and Flossie are affectionate spaniels who live in the house but are used to going in the kennel during the morning and after a wet walk. Flossie likes to watch television in the evening. They are fed twice a day in the morning and evening. The chickens are fed once a day and shut themselves up in the evening. The cows just need to be looked at once a day. We do have a greenhouse where the seedlings would appreciate some water when necessary but no other watering will be necessary.
