Occasional weekends leading to a 10 day trip away late September 2019
Hi there, Billy and I have lived at Apple Tree Cottage for 9 years now. He is a rescue dog originally and isn't too keen on other dogs, horses, bikes etc. They scare him so when we are out and about in the wonderful fields and footpaths here he wears a muzzle. In the house he'll keep you company on the sofa, follow you like a magnet in the kitchen and accompany you to the loo like a shadow!
He can be left for a couple of hours so you can shop or pop to the amazing local pub for food or a couple of drinks.
Our Home & Location
Billy and I live in a wonky, old, grade 2 listed thatched cottage in the middle of Winterbourne Bassett. We have a separate comfortable sitting room and dining room with a good sized kitchen (electric oven and microwave). You will have the use of the washing facilities in the utility room, washer and dryer if required. We also have a chill out conservatory leading from the kitchen. I eat, drink and read in here most days. The stairs are pretty steep with no handrail - think double decker bus staircase...! The bathroom is upstairs and contains the only toilet along with shower over the bath and wash hand basin.
TV / DVD / Stereo / CD and digital radio all available with high speed internet access throughout the house.
Mobile phone signal can be limited, prop your phone up on a windowsill and you should be fine....
We have a local pub just a 3 minute walk (The Winterbourne) recently purchased by the community and doing really well. The local town of Marlborough is just a 10 minute drive away and has lots of independent shops as well as a Waitrose and Tesco supermarket. This house sit is all about peace and quiet and escaping the hustle and bustle, and of course lots of Billy cuddles. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Billy needs two walks a day, one in the morning between 8 - 9 (ish) and one in the afternoon 2-3 (ish)
He'll need two meals a day, morning and evening and company in the house at most other times. This sit isn't suitable for people who need to work away from home in the daytime.
I have a lovely garden where you can sit in the shade or enjoy playing on the lawn....
Billy isn't keen on wind and rain if he's home alone, he's been known to shred the carpet and have a bit of a meltdown. Trips to the shops and pub are planned around the weather!
We have lots of wild birds who visit for food, from the every day house sparrow to woodpeckers, wrens and the occasional sparrow hawk, I'll leave a supply of food for them too. + More info
