Rural Worcestershire & Our fur baby plus one Tortoise...
Hi! We are Matt and Thea. We have been together for 15 years, we do not have any children (just a fur baby!!) and both work full time. We have not had a house sitter before and have decided to look for one as we feel our dog, Wilbur, would really benefit from staying in the comfort of his own home (and bed!) whilst we are away. In our spare time we enjoy being in the great outdoors, we like gardening and have just taken on an allotment which keeps us busy!
Our Home & Location
We live in the semi rural area of Stoke Prior, on the outskirts of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Our house is in a small cul de sac located within a few minutes walk to the Worcester to Birmingham canal. There are a number of public footpaths a few minutes walk from the house which lead straight into the countrysde. We are approximately half an hour drive from Birmingham and Worcester, and 45 minutes from Stratford Upon Avon. There is a pub within walking distance from the house and several very nice pubs/restaurants within a short drive. There is also a bus route and bus stop within a 5 minute walk from the house. The village of Stoke Prior does have a small shop and a butchers, which we highly recommend! Our house is situated very near to the trainline, which runs alongside the perimeter. We would say that, due to the location, it would be beneficial for a sitter to have a car.
Our house is three bedrooms, with a family bathroom and en suite. We have a recently refurbished large kitchen diner, with a wall mounted 41" flat screen tv and a small lounge, again with a flat screen TV. Both televisions have a SKY Q box and we have high speed internet. We have a large drive with parking for 4-5 vehicles.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have a three bedroom house which we are looking for a sitter to look after whilst we are away. Main responsibility we ask is that our labrador is cared for. He is a large (42kg) labrador, he can be playful and lazy in equal measures. We would ask that he is walked once daily (he likes a morning walk!), fed twice daily and watered. He is a neutered male and very friendly but does like to push the boundaries. He prefers women (he is a mummys boy!). He is very strong on the lead and will pull, especially when he sees another dog. He is not aggressive towards other dogs but can be very over the top so we tend to walk him in areas, or at times, when he is not likely to encounter many other dogs. He has a halti, a harness and a slip lead and we alternate these so would leave them for the sitter to choose the walking apparatus they prefer! He is also very food orientated (a typical lab), which can be useful on a walk. We also have a tortoise who is quite low maintenance but would just need feeding daily and cleaning out if she make a mess! We have a small garden that would not require any maintenance.
