Scottish Borders House & Pet Sit
We are a retired couple in our 50's and moved to the Scottish borders 2 years ago.
We have 5 dogs, 2 cats & 6 chickens and live in a rural farm house. We have in the past used family members to sit the pets & house, but it has become a struggle of late. We have recently used kennels for the first time and to be honest, the dogs hated it and were not happy. We have read so much about Trusted House Sitters, that we thought we'd give it a try.
Our Home & Location
The house is in the rural area of Camptown which is 5 miles from the center of Jedburgh, it is a large farm house and benefits from a down stairs bedroom and bathroom so is suitable for disabled persons. It is surrounded by farmland and is very scenic, peaceful & safe.
The RiverHelmet is on our doorstep and there are lots of beautiful walks. The local area has something for everyone....
Edinburgh, Glasgow & Newcastle are within easy reach.
Jedburgh is a tourist resort and is famous for its beautiful abbey, Mary Queen of Scots house, Castle but to name a few. The surrounding area has lovely pubs, restaurants, shops, swimming pool, leisure center etc.
Just a lovely relaxed place to live. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The dogs have their daily routine which is their main walk of the day about 8.30/9.00 the walk usually takes 1.30 to 2 hours. Then its home for a light Breakfast. They are normally quite happy then to sleep or chill in the house or garden till late afternoon, which gives you time to go out, shop, explore or what ever takes your fancy. The dogs are quite happy to stay home whilst your out providing they have been worn out in the morning. Late afternoon or teatime, a shorter walk or a run in the paddock is sufficient.
The Chickens are easy, let them out in the morning, feed them ( will give details of where feed kept etc) make sure they have fresh water, collect eggs. Depending on what time they go to roost, make sure all in coop, lock up & secure until morning....
The cats are feral farm cats and only require feeding and fresh water.
Will leave more detailed instruction re: feeding regimes etc when phone or Skype conversation is had. + More info
