Highland eco-house with 2 dogs & a cat
Our 2 dogs are getting a bit too old to be sent to the kennels, but occasionally we need to go away & we feel that a house sitter would be the best solution. We've never had a house sitter before, so this would be our first time.
Our Home & Location
Our house is a zero-carbon round house, with triple glazing, straw bale walls and a grass roof. There is an open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area, a small bedroom with 2 single beds, and a main mezzanine bedroom with double bed. The bathroom has a shower & bath, with hot water from a log boiler and solar PV panels. The house sits in 1.5 acres of rather wild ground (we are permaculture gardeners, with a sea loch at the bottom of the drive, and a 2,500m hill behind the house. The nearest shop is 14 miles away, with a big supermarket in Ft William (17 miles). West coast scenery & beaches are within 40 mins drive. This is a fantastic place to live, If you're not too bothered by seasonal midges & a lot of rain.
Responsibilities & Pets
The main responsibilities will be to look after our dogs & cat, and to care-take our house. There will be some warm weather plant watering required but otherwise no gardening necessary. We'd hope that the sitter would simply enjoy being in a low energy round house in a beautiful highland setting.
