Our Little Cat Means the World to Us
Hello, my name is Wendy and I live with my younger son who is also my carer. I have mainly worked in education, as a fully-qualified teacher. I used to work full-time but was forced to retire a few years ago because of health reasons. I am only 53!
Since I became disabled, I have felt often that my wings have been severely clipped - I hope that Trusted Housesitters will let me change this....
Travel is really important to me and, if I had the choice, I would relocate to Germany. I have been to Berlin twice and have fallen hopelessly in love with the place.
We are new to house-sitting and have never left our cat with anyone outside of family before. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our home is in Scone, just outside the city of Perth (Scotland, not Australia). We're not far out from town, and have easy access to public transport links. The area is quite quiet, and only a short ways from rural/forested areas - in particular, we're right next to the Sidlaws, should you enjoy hillwalking or the like.
Responsibilities & Pets
The main priority is our wee cat! He's an outdoor cat, so will need let in and out of the house as necessary, as we don't have a cat flap.
For food and water, we generally give him three or four small meals a day, with portions of wet (1/3 packet) and dry (small glass bowl) food, along with a third of a cat stick as a treat when he's finished his meal. His water bowl is kept alongside his food, and will need changed quite frequently, as he has a habit of getting hairs in it! Please make sure he doesn't get at anything other than cat food, and that things like leftovers and the like are kept away....
Vaska is fully house-trained - he has a litter tray inside for emergencies, but never uses it, so don't worry about changing the litter. He doesn't spray at all, and don't worry if he uses the sofa or the armchair in the living room as scratching posts - that's why we got the ones we did!
He may also want to play occasionally, in which case we have several wand-type cat toys to use, as well as a lace he likes to chase. For sleeping arrangements, he'll most likely sleep on the other bed in the house.
If there's any sort of emergency, don't hesitate at all to have Vaska seen to, even if it requires a home visit. We'll provide you with all the details for the vet and our pet insurance.
With regards to other responsibilities, the bins are collected on a Wednesday - you can look at the neighbours' bins to see whether it's a regular (green) or recycling (blue) bin day. Aside from that, if you could set aside any mail we might get and make sure to tidy up after yourself, that would be great.
Feel free to have any food that's in the house, and don't worry about replacing it or anything. Also don't worry about doing any housework (or gardenwork, for that matter) beyond the above-specified, and please enjoy your stay! + More info
