House/Pet sitter needed for our smallholding in rural West Wales
We are a couple needing a sitter for our 2 Labradors, 1 pony & 6 chickens. The dogs don't get walked every day (unless you want to!) but they do get free run of the place when someone is at home. Once or twice a week they jump in the car and we head for the beach or a forest walk, as long as there is water involved Poppy is happy! Poppy will also chase a ball all day long, she never gets tired, Pippin is a bit stiff these days but still enjoys a walk, her favourite thing is her food and lying in the sun! Tommy the pony lives out in the summer so there won't be any mucking out to do; he gets a small feed once a day just to check him over.
Our Home & Location
The house is set in 4 acres, close to a quiet lane but not overlooked by anyone. There is a friendly pub half a mile away (live music on a Friday night) and the village shop is 2 miles. The beach is 9 miles (New Quay on Cardigan Bay) and we are close to mountains so its a great place for walkers. You would be welcome to help yourselves to the eggs and the vegetables in the garden. A woodburner & Sky TV in the front room is great for chilly Autumn evenings! There is a modern kitchen with dishwasher & washing machine. The garden has an unfenced stream running through it so isn't really suitable for anyone who needs to bring young children.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feed the dogs twice a day, let the chickens out in the morning & give them some corn, shut them at night & collect the eggs. Feed Tommy once a day in the evening. Keep the bird feeders filled with peanuts & bird seed for the bluetits, goldfinches & all the other birds. Water the flower pots round the patio & house every 48 hours (unless it's been raining), water the polytunnel every 3 days. Sit back & enjoy yourselves!
