Welsh farmhouse with dogs, cat and chickens
We love travelling in our campervan and usually take the dogs with us to Europe each year but when we go to visit family abroad we don’t take them with us or can’t as we fly to Africa yearly.
Tony is a retired landscape gardener who still hand carves lettering on stonewhen he has time and I have had a variety of careers over the years ( counsellor, tutor, housing worker) and was recently a volunteer at Citizens Advice as well as their trainer. We are both keen walkers and cyclists and Tony is never happier than up a mountain. We sing in natural voice choirs and dance the 5 rhythms which is an improvisational movement practice. Tony also plays the whistles and ukulele and I love reading.
Our Home & Location
Our 250 year old Welsh stone farmhouse has been extensively renovated to be cosy and warm in winter with a log fire and underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. It has 3 bedrooms upstairs and is open plan mainly downstairs. The front garden has a large sunny patio with a view of Cader Idris and a pond seating area. The remaining grounds are a couple of outbuildings/ wood sheds, a wooded copse and a small paddock and large veg garden. There are numerous walks up the small mountain with a river and lake to swim in behind us as well as access to other paths in south Snowdonia from our door. Dolgellau with it’s good pubs and restaurants is 2 miles away and there will be a bike available to use. It is 9 miles to cycle the Mawddach trail to Barmouth or a bit further to the beach at Fairbourne.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feeding the dogs twice daily as well as taking them for walks twice a day. The longer the better although 20 minutes up the footpath would do in the rain! Feeding the black cat a spoon of tinned cat food twice a day and dry food topped up if bowl is empty. Kitten needs food on demand( bowl kept topped up ) . All 4 are on different foods and must not eat each other’s ! Chickens need food topped up daily ( will get through a full hopper every 2 days) and given fresh water if they do not have access to the stream as it gets blocked.
