Peaceful countryside location with two low maintenance dogs
We are new to having house and pet sitters. I am 58 and self-employed, and my wife is a 48 year-old midwife. We are hoping to gradually ease our way down towards retirement by taking the occasional long weekend away, but have two dogs who love their home and the comforts it affords them. They are also used to a routine.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a modernised former Welsh longhouse, dating from approx. 1750, set in approx. 8 acres of pasture. There are three bedrooms, lounge, dining room, study/sun room, utility room, fully fitted kitchen with an oil-fired Rayburn range cooker which also controls the heating and hot water supply and a recently-refurbished bathroom. We are located approximately one-and-a-half miles from the town of Ammanford on a quiet, secluded no-through lane. The house has private drainage as well as a private water supply which is drawn from the same aquifer as Brecon Carreg water originates. Currently, there are three horses on the land which are owned by a young couple who rent the livery rights, but these need no maintenance by the house sitter. Excellent views from many aspects of the house and plenty of opportunity to walk the dogs in the maze of country lanes surrounding the house.
Responsibilities & Pets
Daisy eats one meal per day, 1/2 tin of regular dog food mixed with either some boiled rice or mixer biscuit. Nel has recently changed from two meals per day to eating one meal in the morning (the same time that Daisy eats), usually chopped chicken breast mixed with small bite mixer and rice mixed in. They are fed in separate rooms to prevent any conflict ! Apart from that, and the odd walk in reasonable weather, the dog-minding duties are fairly light - Nel needs a brushing at least once a day to prevent her hair from matting ; Daisy is completely maintenance-free!
