Pembrokeshire secluded near all beaches three dogs.
We both in our early sixties and active and I (David) travel a lot with work, mainly to the USA.
In the past our children have looked after our dogs as we are concerned about leaving them in Kennels thanks to a bad experience many years ago. Our circumstances have changed and although our children can support and in fact one of them lives in a wing of the house ( now a separate building) ,their own commitments with their own children, make this difficult....
Four dogs are a handful as they are all have different personalities but all are sociable.
We are looking to travel a couple of times a year and find sitters who would enjoy our dogs and our home and its location. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our home is a Georgian Mansion so is quite spacious with large rooms and high ceilings. The original part of the house was built in 1720 but there are records going back to the 15th Century but the part you will live in was built in 1820. It has the distinction of several famous people visiting including Sir Isambard Kingdom Brunel who was a friend of the owner.
If you enjoy books we have a somewhat eclectic library with thousands of volumes and of course the usual TV but we don't have all of the SKY channels. All bedroom have en-suite bathrooms and we have a large sitting room and other occasional rooms. If you enjoy history this place will interest you and Pembrokeshire is a holiday destination with good beaches, historical sites and relatively untouched market towns such as Narbeth within a short distance....
There are two pubs equidistant at one mile away, one a gastro pub and the other more of a village local serving food. Although the property is secluded sitting between two villages, both Pembroke and Pembroke dock at only 3 miles away and have all the usual shops including Tesco etc.
We can let you have use of an estate car to take the dogs to the beach or to use yourself.
We can ensure that we are around to show you things like heating, electrics etc before you stay and are relaxes about a familiarisation visit as well. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We would ask you to look after our home and dogs which would entail feeding the dogs and exercising them. We generally take them to Freshwater East Beach which is a 10 minute drive away and they run free through the sand dunes. This is a blue flag beach and quite attractive.
The dogs usually eat at 07.30 am and at 7.30 pm when they go to bed. The dogs sleep overnight in our kitchen which is downstairs in part of the basement....
Sammy is boisterous and will bark at anything but mainly our daughters dog when he visits, Lulu is placid and Ginger is timid, Sammy, Lulu and Ginger are rescue dogs and very affectionate. We have grounds but Ginger has a propensity to run off and disappear for a couple of hours so we take her outside on a lead but on the beach she can be unleased as she returns to call.
If you wanted to do anything other than dog sit, this is a large property and we can always arrange for paid work by arrangement. Decorators and gardeners are always welcome! + More info
