Dog/house sitters needed in Pembrokeshire, renowned for breath taking views and award winning beaches
Neil and myself (Cindy) both work. I have recently gone partime, Neil is self employed. We have gone from one dog sitter to another, finally found just the one, only she is so popular now we have to book so far ahead. We then found a young girl who set up dog walking and sitting, she was perfect, dogs love her, unfortunately, not for her, she is leaving the country to further her career. Friends and family have offered in the past but something always happens last minute and they cant do it. We usually only go away together once a year for no more than aweek to visit grandchildren in Edinburgh, it always seems to be a problem. hopefully we have come to the right place.
Our Home & Location
We live in Gellyswick bay and have uninterrupted views of the sea. it is a split level home and has many steps around the house as it is on a slope. A 20 /30minute walk will take you to Milford town, which has Charles st as the main st with some independant traders along with a Factory Shop and Spar. As with a lot of main streets this had some difficulties bt the independant traders keeps people coming back. We also have a thriving Mariner same distance away with lots of places shop and eat from a sit in chip shop to a Tapas bar. All independant traders. At the top of the road (which is a steep 5 minute walk) is the bus stop to catch town rider or bus to further afield. St Davids (smallest City) is about a 30minute drive. Sandy Haven 10mins drive, Marloes 25mins, Dale25mins and Broadhaven 15mins are some of the nearest beaches. boat trips to Skomer go from Martins Haven (Marloes) should you want to spend the day on this beautiful island. Blue bells and red Campion are ther in the sring and Puffins start to arrive May/June, Atlantic grey seal pupping seasonis from Aug/Sept. In the summer months or even on a sunny day in winter we spend a lot of time sitting on balcony watching the world go by, ramblers and backpackers , who are walking the Pembrokeshire coastal path walk along the green by the beach in front of the house, dinghys , yachts people swimming and canoeing. Pembrokeshire yacht club is a two minute walk from house. We often walk the coastal path to Sandy Haven about 50 minutes, although last time, Polly did struggle a bit due to her getting on a bit. there is a close sandy beach on the same route about 20minutes walk from house,Polly and Dylan love that beach. you are usually the only ones there.
Responsibilities & Pets
Polly and Dylan will need an hours walk a day. Having said that, during this summer we had a heat wave lasting some time and all they needed was a swim each day. They love the beach although keep an eye out for scavagine, a crab or two is fine but not a dead sea gull! Dylan is very friendly and loves a cuddle although he can be a bit nervous of German Shepards and little dogs that run up to him, he will bark at them. Polly is very laid back. If you are here in the summer we will probably have stuff growing in greenhouse and garden which will need attention. Bins need to be put out. Pick dog poo up from garden daily. If Polly is moulting the hoover will need to come out everyday.
