Hello, we are Bob & Louise, a retired couple in our early 70s. We have just moved into this little smallholding (3 acres), from the north of England. Our intention is to busy ourselves gardening here in summer growing food as well as ornamental plants. We own a tiny house in Crete where we will spend 5 months in winter. The gardens do not need attention but our cat, Tab, needs a loving home in winter.
Our Home & Location
The house in detached& up a steep lane about 3 miles from Newtown. It is currently set up as a 2-bed with upstairs office & shower room. Downstairs are 2 lounges, both with log burners,, a kitchen-diner & bathroom. Outside is a utility room with washing machine & central heating (oil-fired) boiler. We are surrounded by lovely countryside & Newtown has most amenities - eg. banks, supermarkets, Boots, W.H. Smith etc. There are several castles in the area & a frequent train service to Shrewsbury & Birmingham airport. There is a theatre on the outskirts of Newtown & a mini theatre in the town itself. Newtown has a tourist office, several museums & a library. A car is essential - house just under half a mile from main road. We are at the end of the lane. The neighbours are pleasant & friendly. There is a choice of bedrooms - 1 has a 6ft wide bed, the other has 5ft/splits into 2 singles.
Responsibilities & Pets
The garden should not need attention. We tend to feed Tab on demand - raw kidney & Liver cut into small pieces - he has very few teeth! Also, cat treats & sachets of cat food. Would think the fish would not need feeding much as the weather will not be hot. Wood supplies plentiful for stoves should you wish to use them.
