Felin Fach - Little Mill
Hi. I’m Amanda Evans and I live in a rural location between Welshpool and Newtown so a car is a must! I live there with my husband Pete and our animals! It is a beautiful, peaceful environment with a stream running around the grounds.
We have lived here about 2 years originally coming from Berkshire. I am a therapist / life coach and my husband is a senior director for an international manufacturer!...
I am generally at home and spend much of my time working on baking or art projects and in the summer, gardening. As a couple we enjoy garden design, eating out and taking long walks.
We bought the house in 2016 and have spent 2 years renovating it to a high standard. Our children are grown up so our house is designed to accommodate 2 adults and our pets.
We are happy for our sitters to enjoy our home but we would not expect children or other pets to accompany them. + More info
Our Home & Location
The house, although has an upstairs, we don’t expect sitters to use this part of the house! And if necessary, to be agreed in advance!
The ground floor has a double bedroom with full on suite facilities, kitchen, dining room, lounge, cloakroom and main entrance/ wetroom. The house has been completely renovated and although is a 17th century mill, it is modern and stylish throughout! Water is provided via a borehole....
The wet room has a washing machine and tumble dryer if needed. All appliances in the house must be cleaned and wiped after use, particularly the tumble dryer, including emptying the filter to avoid risk of fire.
All heating is electric and there is a wood burning stove in the lounge. Wood for the stove can be purchased at the local garage store at Tregynon which is 3 miles away. The wood store can be used if pre-arranged and fees agreed. We will set all the heating as specified by the sitter before they arrive.
Recycling is kept in the downstairs cloakroom and when full, moved to the recycled boxes by the main shed on the driveway.
All doors are to be kept closed and the pets are NOT ALLOWED in the house other than the wet room or supervised in the lounge!
The outside has a patio with furniture and a bbq as well as a fire pit with seating area. The property has a large natural pond at the bottom of the garden next to the summerhouse. The summerhouse is not available to sitters! The lawn is cut regularly so there is no need to do this!
Recycling boxes are driven to the end of the lane each Monday night for collection. Unless we are away for more than 2 weeks we don’t expect the sitter to do this!
The smaller shed houses the water system and is to be kept shut.
The larger shed on the drive way is storage only!
Park on the drive way or in front of the gate but NEVER at the top of the drive by farmers gates to fields as they need access! + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The dogs are fed a very strict diet twice a day usually about 6.30am and 4pm. They have a mix of dry and wet food. I cup of dry and one sachet each. We give them NO human food or treats!
The dog flap means the dogs can let themselves out and in so they do not need walking. It is important that the gates are always kept closed. Maisie is a natural working dog and will chase livestock! The house is surrounded by sheep and cattle all year.
Maisie will come and go a lot so if you get tired of getting up to wipe her feet every 10minutes, close the dog flap for 1-2 hours at a time so you can have a bit of peace of an evening!...
The cats come and go through the dog flap. They are fed at the same time as the dogs with sachets of wet food and dry food.
Bowls of water are outside. During the night a bowl of water is left indoors as the dog flap is closed down to only allow the cats in and out. It is CRITICAL that internal doors are always closed, particularly the lounge door overnight as cats will bring mice in live or dead and this prevents them getting into other rooms. The wet room is designed for all aspects of animal care, including trapping the odd mouse!
Every day the dog mess needs to be cleared from the garden. Baby nappy bags are kept in the wet room. When these are full they are left by the bin on the driveway.
As we live very rurally the animals are constantly dirty and therefore ONLY allowed in the wet room that they have access too. They may go in the lounge but only when they are thoroughly cleaned first and then supervised! This applies to the dogs and cats!
The fish are given a tiny pinch of food every other day. We are never away long enough to worry about cleaning them!
If any of the animals are sick the vets number will be provided. Even if you are unsure, take them immediately! I will always provide the vet with the sitters details and instructions.
As the dogs are free to come and go during the day, sitters can leave them up to 5 hours however THEY ARE NEVER TO BE LEFT OVERNIGHT!
The chickens are fed daily with a scoop of corn or feed alternating daily. They need fresh water every day! They can be given vegetable waste but NO MEAT OR MEAT PRODUCTS!
We would want to meet a sitter in advance and can go through everything with them before their stay! + More info
