Alaskan cozy home - no pets but pretty plants
Our 3-bedroom home is just 20 miles north of Anchorage, in Chugiak, a suburban/rural neighborhood with large lots. We live next to a wooded ravine with lots of visiting birds.
Non-smokers only please.
Our Home & Location
Plenty of windows capture the light in every room. Great views of Bear Mountain from inside & out. Easy neighborhood walks and views of the Alaska Range and Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley). Walking/skiing in the ravine behind the house. Chugach State Park nearby. About a 4 hour drive north to Denali National Park or 5 hour drive south to Homer.
This is a two level home, built in 2006, in excellent condition. Guest room and guest bathroom upstairs, along with master bedroom and its own bathroom. The kitchen is just the right size for us, two people who like to cook. Living room is cozy with views of the back yard/garden and Bear Mountain.
Chugiak is a small community, with Thai and Italian restaurants, drive-up coffee, gas station, and a grocery store. Eagle River is 10 miles south and has more businesses – we do most of our shopping there. There is no public transportation. We may be able to furnish a car - we can discuss.
Responsibilities & Pets
We currently don’t have any pets (we originally listed on THS when we had two cats, but both died a couple years ago and allergies kept us from getting others. We miss them!)
The main job while in the house will be watering our plants....
In the winter we have a few indoor plants to care for. There about 10 African Violets in self-watering planters, so they need weekly change of water & liquid food. Takes about 30 minutes a week. There is also have a variety of others - cactus, ficus, coleus - that need regular watering. Probably another 30 minutes a week for those.
In the summer we've got a garden and flowers outside that need daily care at some level (depending on the rain and sun). + More info
