Cosy, Alaskan home with two sweet cats and fresh eggs
Our family consists of myself, my husband, Mike, and our daughter, Claira. We have two cats and Claira has 9 chickens. I am a middle school science teacher and my husband is a fisheries biologist for the State of Alaska. We have lived in Homer for 12 years and enjoy everything Alaska has to offer. We all enjoy hiking, camping, boating, and fishing. Mike and Claira enjoy hunting. I am an avid runner and can be found most days running around town. We love to travel but hate to leave our kitties home alone. They love attention and cuddles on a regular basis.
Our Home & Location
Our home is located in beautiful Homer Alaska located at the end of the road on the Kenai Peninsula. Homer is a small town but offers everything a visitor would need or want for a holiday. We are on the shores of Kachemak Bay which offers fishing and wildlife viewing year round. We have gorgeous hiking and skiing trails just a short drive from our house. There are museums, visitor centers, and shopping available for those stormy days. There are also world class restaurants. Our house is a single family, 3 bedroom home located in a small, quiet neighborhood. We have a lovely view of the lake where you can often see wildlife. In the winter, you can walk, ski or ice skate on the lake. Our home has a full kitchen, three bedrooms, a woodstove and 1 1/2 baths. It is a very comfortable place for a single, couple, or small family.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our two cats are very easy to care for. They are, for the most part, quite independent. However, both love attention and cuddles (especially Skittles). They tend to get a bit stressed when we are gone so having someone stay is a big help. You would be very free to explore and enjoy our area during the day as the animals need very little care. The cats are fed twice daily and their box is cleaned daily. The chickens love their "walks" and need to be fed and watered daily. Eggs should be collected once or twice a day.
