The Mountain Top Oasis
Dan and I bought our first home near Yosemite a little over 15 years ago in hopes of retiring here one day. We made that home our permanent residence in 2007. We recently purchased our second home in hopes of sharing our "little piece of paradise" with a variety of world travelers; we are hosts on Airbnb. Dan is a retired heavy equipment operator who has diligently been working to create our oasis. When Dan retired I went back to college and recently earned a bachelors degree and teaching credential. I currently work as a high school teacher. Both, Dan and I can honestly say, "We are living our dream!" When I am not at work, we love spending time in Yosemite, small day trips in our roadster, the beauty and serenity of the great outdoors and of course we love a little red wine every now and then along with fine whole foods plant based cuisine.
Our Home & Location
"The Mountain Top Oasis" is a beautiful 3300 square foot custom built home located on top of a mountain on 9 acres with 360 degree views boasting sunset views of the mountains to the west every evening and sunrise views looking toward Yosemite National Park; only 36 miles away (approximately one hour drive). Our 'little piece of paradise' is available for you to relax, rejuvinate and enjoy after a long day's hike in Yosemite, if you so choose. We are only 4 miles to the thriving and exciting gold mining town of Mariposa; rich in nostalgia and history. The Mountain Top Oasis is a two story home atop of our own mountain. We are also hosts on Airbnb and have two completely separate suites entirely blocked off from the rest of the house for total seclusion. We have a self check-in process and a property manager who takes care of the business when guests check out or have any special circumstances, so you don't have to worry about having to do anything with the business. However, it is a slow time of year right now and we do not have anyone scheduled to arrive at this point. We will keep you abreast of any guests arriving or departing. The guests have their own driveway that takes them around the back side of the house behind the garage, so chances are, you won't even know they are here. If you are fortunate to meet some of them, we do hope you will enjoy our world travelers as much as we do; such a blessing.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our dates are flexible as we have multiple people willing to stay at The Mountain Top Oasis. Please lets open a dialogue to see which dates might work best for all. We have seven very low maintenance fur babies; two outdoor only dogs and five cats who take care of business outside. We have self feeders and water bowls for the cats both indoor and outdoor; has to be checked every few days. The dogs are outdoor only and need to be fed and watered once a day in the mornings. Pepper (9) and Mack (11) are outdoor dogs ONLY but absolutely LOVE attention. We call Pepper our 130 lb. toddler because he bounces up and down when he sees you, talks (moans to you) every time you see him and packs his KONG around in hopes you will give him a cookie. Mack is approximately 75 lbs and loves to set his head in your lap when you go outside to visit. They both sit, shake and lay down. We recently adopted the two dogs when their other family moved out of state. We also adopted their two outdoor ONLY kitties; Mittens and Rocket. Both Mittens and Rocket hang outside with their dogs and in the garage as well. Neither Rocket nor Mittens will approach you for attention as they just seem to do their own thing. Mittens really likes Dan though; so you never know.
We also have a cat named Pepper who is 9 yrs old as well (we adopted him and his twin brother, Trouble when they were 8 yrs old. Pepper is super loving and wants to sleep in the living room. He is super friendly and loves attention; so much so that he drools. Halle is our 5 yr. old black kitty with detached thumbs. She is a special kitty we adopted from the shelter when she was 3. She is super sweet and loves attention (when she wants it). She also sleeps in the living room at night. Both, Pepper and Halle will let you know when they want outside. If they are outside, I like to have them in before it gets dark. Finally, we adopted sweet Twiggy from the shelter as well when she was 1. She is super sweet but is NOT allowed in the house because she likes to taunt and terrorize the other kitties. She stays in the laundry room which has a kitty door for her to come and go as she pleases. She is so darn cute and sweet as she will give kisses for snacks....
We have many animals that require very little but LOVE LOVE LOVE attention. + More info
