Beautiful Napa hone with pool, garden and wonderful Portuguese Water Dog
We are a couple, retired from college teaching and the wine business. While Napa is a wonderful area, we still have the travel bug, so we reluctantly leave our lovely home, dog and friends to visit new places and experience different cultures.
Our Home & Location
Our home is located on the West side of the city of Napa. We live on a small private road which provides both quiet and privacy yet is 1.5 miles to downtown Napa which is known for its many fine restaurants and wine bars. The Napa Valley wine "trail" starts in the city of Napa and extends North approximately 30 miles, so you have easy access to hundreds of wineries. From our house, San Francisco is only a one-hour drive across the Golden Gate bridge. Our property is 1.4 acres which includes a swimming pool, large patio, vegetable garden, olive grove, and native trees. The house has two bedrooms, two offices, a sleeping porch, a dedicated TV room, living room, and a kitchen-dining space, along with 2.5 bathrooms. It has air conditioning on both floors although it is not required much of the time as the afternoons cool off in West Napa. The nearest grocery/butcher is only one-half mile from our house and is a pleasant walk.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our dog is fairly low maintenance but he does want to be around people and what they are doing. Our routine with Figaro is to take him outside for a brief walk or stroll around our property after our breakfast; we take him out again after he eats his lunch---1/2 can of dry food---; we take him on a 35 minute walk either later in the morning or afternoon; and then we take him out again for a brief walk after we finish our dinner around 730 pm. We feed him his dinner after we have finished eating. After each outing, he is accustomed to getting a dog biscuit. He does not get any table scraps but he has been known to counter-surf when we've been distracted. Otherwise, he will want to be outside with you if you are in the garden or at the pool where he is also accustomed to swimming (after some coaxing).
