Napa Family looking for loving couple or family for pet and housesitting
Hello! We are a very active family with an active household! We have a lovely home in a residential area of the city of Napa called "Browns Valley". My husband and I are both lawyers, and we have two school-aged children and an au pair who is part of our family. We also have a labrador puppy, 6 chickens and two fish! So we have our hands full :)
We are looking for responsible people who will take care of our home and animals with love and care when we have to be away. People who have experience with puppies would be best, as our Moonshine is quite active and needs lots of love and attention!
Our Home & Location
We have a great family-friendly home in a quiet residential part of the city of Napa. There are lots of families with school-aged children in our particular area. We are close enough to bike to a shopping area that has a great local market, yogurt shop, drycleaners, yoga studio, hair salon and brew pub, and a short drive (2 -3 miles) from downtown Napa, which is chock-full of amazing restaurants, shops, and plenty of things to do. There is a shopping area with Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Target less than a 10 minutes drive from our home. We have our favorite wineries to visit, some within biking distance! We are at the base of Mt. Veeder, so there is great cycling right outside our front door. Our home is perfect for a couple or family that is very active!
The home itself is over 3000sf with a large yard. We have about 800sf of grass in the back yard, a large deck, and a large side yard with fruit trees, a canvas tent we use as a play area/art studio, a swing, chairs under the redwood trees, and of course our chicken coop (with 6 chickens)....
We love our home and where we live, there is lots to do! + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We have a new labrador puppy, and we are working with a trainer on basic obedience. As of August she is 6 months old. She is very loving, but can be a bit of a rascal and currently loves to steal shoes and tupperware lids! So we are working on that. She is crated at night and during the day she spends time outside with us, our nanny and children, or in her pen if inside and we are not eyeballing her. She has a doggy door that she is getting used to . . . we walk her at least twice a day (morning and night) and she also gets lots of play time. She eats twice per day and usually gets a chew bone in the evening with the kids.
We also have 6 chickens. They need to be let out at night and "put in" to roost in the early eve (before dark), although we have a decent chicken run so some days they can stay in the coop. They need food and water replenished every few days, but are generally low maintenance. In addition to chicken feed and scratch, we give them fruit and veggie scraps, which they love! We harvest their eggs daily (fresh eggs, yum!) and put cedar shavings into the coop a couple times a month....
Each of our children has a fish tank, which needs cleaning every other week and the fish get fed a pinch each day.
In addition to the animals, we have some plants that need watering inside and a few out, but otherwise we have a gardener that comes in twice a month. Garbage gets put out once a week.
I think that's it! A Happy Household! + More info
