Together with Tinsley! A non-smoking, 55+ pet sitter is needed for our 3-year-old Labrador Retriever.
We are Marilee and John, a retired couple in our 60s. Now that we are free to travel, we seek a responsible pet sitter (or pet sitting couple) who will care for our dog Tinsley and maintain our home in the manner that we do. Because we live in a 55+ active adult community, a pet sitter (or one in a pet sitting couple) needs to be at least 55 years of age to be in our home without us present. We will look favorably upon house sitters who might be available for repeat visits, as we have future travel dates planned.
Our Home & Location
We live in a beautiful, quiet, gated 55+ active adult community in El Dorado Hills. Our home is an open floor plan with high ceilings and lots of windows. It backs up to open space with an abundance of trees and a seasonal creek. We have 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, a den/office, and open great room to the kitchen. Our house sitter would reside in the guest bedroom with queen bed and adjoining bath. Our home has a gas fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, and inside laundry room. We have flat screen TVs in the great room and kitchen and have cable TV and reliable, high-speed internet. Cell phone reception in our area is excellent. There are lovely nature paths throughout the development where we walk Tinsley. El Dorado Hills has a variety of cute shops, a multi-screen theater, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. and we are just minutes from the city of Folsom where there is every store and restaurant imaginable! Folsom Lake is just minutes from our home. We are approximately 1-1/2 hours from Lake Tahoe (if you wanted to make that trip either before or after your stay with us, or better yet--take Tinsley with you!), and 40 minutes from the Sacramento airport, Old Town Sacramento, the Sacramento Zoo, the Railroad Museum, etc.
Responsibilities & Pets
Your primary responsibility would be to care for and be a companion and available to Tinsley in our absence. She is a loving, well-behaved, energetic young dog and needs a minimum of 2 good exercise sessions a day. Since we are both retired, she is not used to being left alone for long periods of time. We would not want her left for more than 3 hours in a stretch. We take her on two 40-minute walks a day (before her breakfast and dinner) on the nature paths that run through our neighborhood. She is calm and good about relaxing when she has been exercised. We feed Tinsley 2 times a day--morning and evening. She takes no medications. Gardeners take care of our front yard maintenance, and nothing will be required in the backyard patio area. The trash can will need to be rolled out to the street once a week. We do take pride in our home and furnishings, so will be looking for someone who will take good care of our house and its contents. We keep an organized, clean, and tidy home, and would expect to find it in the same condition upon our return.
*Please see references below, (as they pertained to our recently departed dog Callie and our present dog, Tinsley), posted by previous house sitters who stayed in our home....
"John and Marilee have a lovely, immaculate 2bd/2bth single family home in a secure gated community in Sierra foothills 5 minutes from shopping and Hwy 50. Their fur baby is sweetheart female 10 year old lab who is a pleasure to care for. You never have to worry where she is because she will follow you everywhere. Marilee was spot on with all communication providing all info we needed for a successful Housesit both prior to and during the Housesit. In spite of last minute changes to our mutual schedules she did whatever was needed to make it work. We highly recommend them for consideration as a prospective house/petsit."
"I housesat for John and Marilee in April, and can attest to the attentive care they give to both their beautiful house in California and aging lab, Callie."
"I am grateful to have met Marilee & John and enjoyed taking care of their wonderful home. It's in a gated community and the vibe is very California...Laid Back. Their dog Tinsley is a gem. She was such a joy to take care of that I returned for a second assignment. I highly recommend this house sitting opportunity. Please take good care of Tinsley....she deserves the best!" + More info
