Solar home on 14 acres in the Rocky Mountains near Boulder, Colorado - just minutes from skiing and hiking
We are retired and travel often, including winters in Central America and shorter trips to visit family and friends closer to home. We would love to have someone dependable to look after the house, water our plants and care for our dog while we are away. Phoenix is a loving companion, and although he is 9 years old, still loves daily walks and hiking in the mountains.
Our Home & Location
Our house is 4 miles outside of the small mountain town of Nederland, and 14 miles from Boulder, home to the University of Colorado. The house is nestled in a pine and aspen forest with a view of James Peak. The area offers myriad hiking and biking opportunities, and is about 10 miles from Eldora Mountain Resort, providing extensive alpine and nordic skiing and snowboarding terrain.
The house has a passive solar design, and we use a wood stove in the winter to augment the solar heat. We recommend a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle if you are staying here in the winter. Front-wheel drive vehicles with good tires may also be workable. We do not have television reception, but do have DVD and VHS players for watching movies.
Responsibilities & Pets
Enjoy our home while we're away. Please maintain the cleanliness of the home approximately as you found it. Water the plants once a week. Walk Phoenix the dog around the property at least in the morning and afternoon.
