Phoebe and Coco invite you to beautiful Boulder
We have lived and worked in Boulder for more than 30 years, Lindon as a physicist, and Carrie as an English teacher. Now we are retired and wish to travel a bit, especially in Spain and Portugal. We love our pets, and want them to live safely and happily in our home while we travel.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch-style home on a modest lot in North Boulder. All rooms are on a single level, which we found to be quite comfortable for us and our two children before they went to University. The home was originally built in about 1965, and remodeled in 2014. The backyard is fenced, and the garden portions are fenced separately, so Phoebe can enjoy days in the backyard off-leash. She has a special relationship with the squirrels that cavort in the large Honeylocust tree there. In warm weather we like to sit on the deck and have meals or coffee. We subscribe to streaming video services over the internet, including HBO and Amazon Video Prime. Wi-fi is available throughout the house.
Our home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to the Boulder Community Gardens and the North Boulder Recreational Center, where you can swim or play a variety of sports. About 20 blocks to the west is open space with climbing and walking trails. To the east is walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants, groceries and a large supermarket. You can also walk to the downtown Boulder Pedestrian Mall, which has many more shops and some cultural attractions, such as the city library and a contemporary art museum. We are a somewhat longer walk or a short bike ride to the University of Colorado, which has many more cultural offerings, including musical events and theatrical performances by both local and visiting artists. RTD provides bus service throughout the city....
Boulder is less than one-half hour by car from the Eldora ski area, and one to two hours away from other world-class ski areas such as the Vail, Copper Mountain, Winter Park, and Breckenridge resorts. There are many magnificent hikes accessible within an hour's drive, including the Rocky Mountain National Park. The city of Denver is also within an hour of Boulder, where you can attend concerts, opera, major league sporting events, and visit major art and science museums. You can easily take the bus to other parts of Boulder, most of the Denver attractions, and to the Eldora ski area, if you prefer not to drive a car. There is convenient bus service to the Denver International airport, as well as shuttle service by appointment. There are low-fare nonstop flights between Denver and major US cities, London, and other international destinations.
All-in-all, Boulder is a great town to enjoy the Colorado lifestyle, and use as a launching point for other adventures in the US. It is a very safe community, with highly educated and friendly residents. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Phoebe is an energetic Corgi who benefits from a vigorous walk each day. We usually take her for an hour walk in an area where she can fetch a Chuck-It ball, swim, and/or run off-leash. We feed her twice a day and clean up after her as needed. Phoebe can be left unattended for several hours in the backyard or in the house, where she will sleep on her favorite chair and bark at the mailman. Coco sleeps most of the time, and eats when she sees fit. Coco can be left unattended all day, and even for a weekend, with adequate food and water and a clean litter box. She is allowed to go outside during the day, but not at night, when there may be predators about. We will provide boarding information for Phoebe, in the event that you wish to go on an overnight outing. During cold months of the year, there is little to do in home maintenance. In the unlikely event that there is an issue with the heating system or an appliance, we will provide the phone number of a repairman who will take care of it. If it snows, shovel the walkway and the driveway, if you are using a car.
