Sitter Needed for Buddy and Tweakers
We are looking for the occasional house and pet sitter when we are gone for extended vacations. My husband is a software engineer and I work in finance. We have two children and one cat and one dog. The cat, Tweakers, keeps to herself and is fairly low maintenance, you would probably only see the cat a handful of times. She is 13 years old. Our dog, Buddy, is about 40 lbs and is a mix breed of a King Charles Spaniel and a Bernadoodle (Bernese Mountain Dog and Standard Poodle). Buddy is a young dog and likes to be walked, play fetch, go to dog parks, eat treats, and is an overall friendly dog. We do have access to a doggie day care in the area. If needed, we are willing to look at splitting the time between boarding and housesitting. For example, if you can only be here for half of the trip, we could arrange for boarding for the other half, We can be flexible, but would prefer someone who could spend the majority of the requested time in the home as this is where we think our dog is most comfortable. We received Buddy as a rescue in September of 2017 so we are fairly new to the world of dogs and house sitting.
Our Home & Location
We live in Castle Pines, Colorado. Castle Pines is located about 30 minutes from South of Denver, and about 40 minutes from Denver International Airport. Castle Pines is a small, golfing community. We do not golf but there is a public course within a half mile of our house. Castle Pines is known for its rolling hills and walking paths. It has a grocery store, pharmacy (Walgreens) and a handful of restaurants. Very pretty area with deer and wildlife. It is located between two very busy suburban towns, Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock. Between these two cities, you can find anything you need that Castle Pines may not have. There is a light rail station about 15 minutes north of us that can take you downtown if you so choose. Denver, Colorado is a bustling city with great restaurants and cultural attractions. If taking a trip to the mountains, Summit County is about 1 1/2 - 2 hours West of us. Summit County has several ski resorts including Vail and Breckenridge. The highway to get to the mountains can be very busy so if you are planning to go, plan accordingly so you don't get stuck on I-70! Our home is in a planned development. There is a walking path across the street and a dog park about a mile from our home. There can be a lot of snow in our area if storm hits, so an all wheel drive vehicle is recommended (we can discuss leaving our car if you do not have access to a vehicle). We are at an elevation of 6,500 so we can receive snow more often than the Denver area. However, the snow usually is fast to melt. We would arrange for the snow to be shoveled while we are on vacation. The walking paths are typically cleared within a day or so and Buddy loves romping through the snow! It is beautiful in Castle Pines as and Colorado in the winter!
Responsibilities & Pets
The main responsibilities would include feeding the animals and exercising and socializing Buddy. He loves walks and the dog park. Depending on the time of year, we may also ask to water flowers in the front.
