House/Dog sit, small Colorado Mountain Town, New Years, Ski Season
My partner and I are an active 40-something couple who love living and working in our small mountain town of Creede, CO (which we consider our ideal mountain oasis). We currently manage both commercial and residential properties and stay busy working on both our own properties and custom jobs for others in the area. We also love to travel when we are able and always travel with our super-hero dog friend whenever possible, but sometimes, when we are not able, we need someone reliable, caring and active who enjoys the mountains to take care of our furry friend and apartment while we're away.
Our Home & Location
We live in a second story, custom Loft-style apartment in downtown Creede with our shop/work space below. Our apartment is accessed via stairs only. We have ample sunshine and great mountain views with many windows and an outdoor deck with seating, hot tub and gas grill. We have decent wifi which works well most of the time. We have a king size bed and two full baths as well as a full kitchen and washer and dryer. Our apartment is within easy walking distance of the grocery store, restaurants, bars and shops downtown. It is also easy dog walking right out the front door and towards a scenic canyon and creek just minutes away.
The town of Creede is a historic mountain mining town, a real "gem" of the authentic "Wild West". The town is very small with less than 700 full-time residents in the area, although the town does thrive on a large influx of seasonal summer tourists. The town is high in the heart of the mountains at an altitude of 8799 ft. Creede is surrounded by epic hiking, biking, fishing and skiing. There is a local ski area often boasting the "most natural powder in Colorado" about a 40 minute drive away....
Being somewhat remote, Creede is accessible by vehicle or private plane only. The closest public flights arrive in Alamosa, CO (71 miles), Durango, CO ( 118 miles), or Denver, CO (279 miles). It is possible to rent a car at any of these airports to then drive.
The town is beautiful and a definite oasis for the active outdoor enthusiast!
We have at least 3-5 restaurants and several shops open year-round (more in summer months) and San Juan Sports is a local year-round outdoor shop that has gear and daily rental bikes, cross-country skis and snowshoes. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Our dog Arctos needs to have at least one or two good walks a day. We usually walk him on leash in town and off leash on trails or surrounding mountain roads. He needs to have his water bowl refreshed regularly and food bowl filled one or two times daily. He loves most any activity outdoors and would love to go on moderate cross country skis, hiking or snowshoeing with you. He should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time.
We have two goldfish who are very low maintenance and need only a small sprinkle of food once or twice per day....
We also have quite a few houseplants which need watering every few days or so. + More info
