Truffle Wilson's Mountain Hideaway
We like to travel and are hoping to find wonderful people to care for our sweet Truffle. Alex works for the USGS and Sarah is an arts educator. We like food, dancing, hiking, music, and travel!
Our Home & Location
We live in the foothills in Golden, CO. Our apartment includes everything you need (washer/dryer, dishwasher, stocked kitchen, fireplace) and a balcony to lookout over beautiful mountain views! We're a 12 minute walk from light rail station which goes to Denver and other areas. Boulder, Colorado Springs, and some of the best ski resorts in the world are all within close driving distance (1-2 hrs). There's plenty of trails (hiking, biking) within a 30 minute drive. Other popular nearby destinations: Red Rocks Amphitheater, Dinosaur Ridge, Buffalo Bill's Grave, Lookout Mountain, Casa Bonita, Denver Art Museum, Summit County.
You can see para-gliders surfing the skies from our balcony while you snuggle with Truffle enjoying a Colorado craft beer with your burrito smothered in green chili!
Responsibilities & Pets
Your main responsibility is to snuggle with Truffle to your heart's content.
FOOD - All of Truffle's supplies are located in the dark brown chest by Truffle's tower and the sliding door. Food dishes are in the kitchen next to the fridge.
BREAKFAST - In the morning by 8 AM, he gets full scoop of dry food in the silver dish. Sometimes there's extra from the night before so if there's still some leftover after a few days you can dump that out and restart.
DINNER - In the evening at 7, he gets his dinner in the glass bowl that goes into the blue base. Dinner is a full can of wet food with a teaspoon(ish) of water. Make sure to mix up the wet food so that its not in a blob. The following day, please rinse out the leftover stale food before you add new food....
WATER - He has two water supplies. One is a big basin by his food in the kitchen. The other is small and is located in front of the fireplace and his blue throne chair. Both need to be refilled about once every two weeks or if you see its empty. Truffle sometimes puts little presents (like used dryer sheets) in his water. Please make sure to be aware of this and rinse them when you see floaters and gunk.
CUDDLES - He especially loves to cuddle during the day in the sunshine. We have started keeping him locked out of our bedroom at night because he can be a demon (knocking stuff over, making lots of noise, jumping on your face)...your call! When he's cuddling, he loves to suck on peoples' fingers and he gives little love bites. He usually is super sweet, but you can tell when he is getting antsy and wants to party...
PLAYTIME - Truffle loves to party! He has three main toys: Party Time, Magic Wand, and Fiesta/Festie! Party Time and Fiesta/Festie will be in his dark brown chest by the sliding door. Recently, he has become obsessed with the magic wand and goes crazy for it, jumping off the walls, doing amazing parkour and making some funny noises. If you run him around enough he will begin to pant and fall over in defeat. We try to get him to this point each night, but he wins sometimes. He especially loves to party on Truffle Tower and that is usually a good way to get him running around (doing laps up and down the tower and on the couch).
KITTY LITTER - His litter needs to be cleaned once or twice a week. Its located in the bathroom in the corner. You pull the litter our of the nightstand, scoop all the goods out into a plastic bag, and then vacuum inside the piece of furniture as well as all around the bathroom. The vacuum attachment is located by the scooper, and the vacuum is in the hall closet. Shake out the bathmat to get that clean. You can also wash the bathmat in the washing machine every so often to get it squeaky clean!
RULES - Truffle is a born rebel and he loves to break the rules! We have spray bottles all over the house to attempt to discipline him, but he has a healthy disregard for authority. He loves to jump on tables, attack plants, pretend he's going to knock over the TV, scratch up the couch instead of his scratching posts, and tightrope walk the balcony. Please try to stop him from doing these things! It is extremely important that he is supervised when he's on the balcony and that you make sure that he doesn't jump on top of the grill or onto the banister...he fell off once (3 stories down) and it was not good!
GARDEN - We have a raised bed plot in a community garden down the street. You need to water the plot thoroughly once each in the morning and once in the evening. There is a hose at one of the entrances, make sure to put it back up when you are done. Please also keep an eye out for weeds and try to get them before they take over.
INDOOR PLANTS - please water the plants in accordance with the water schedule found by each plant. + More info
