House/farm sitter for small sheep farm
We are Jennifer & Jason, We own a B&B and small sheep farm, and Jason is a pilot. Our home is on beautiful Lake Waramaug in Litchfield County, CT. Our local pet/farm/house sitter just moved so we're hoping to find someone new. We love to travel and hope to do more in the future.
Our Home & Location
We're located in Warren, CT on Lake Waramaug. We have beach access that is just a short walk down the hill. The Lake Waramaug state park is also down the road about 3 miles. In warm months canoes and kayaks can be rented, we also have two bicycles that can be borrowed. There is one restaurant and a vineyard/winery within a short walking distance. Our closest towns with coffee shop or shopping are New Preston (5 mins) , Washington (10 mins) and Kent (15 mins). There are too many good hiking spots to mention, some with beautiful views.
Responsibilities & Pets
Our Border Collie Breckin needs feeding and exercise. He's a typical working farm dog in that he loves his animals and people (us) but sometimes take a bit to warm up to new people. A calm and loving pet sitter who is willing to make friends at Breckin's pace is what he would like best. Breckin's very shy upon meeting strangers but comes around very quickly when someone wants to play. He loves to take walks around our neighborhood and local hiking trails. He also likes the water and frisbee. Our 14 female sheep and 1 female donkey (Georgia) are not difficult to care for but they do require someone who is confident around large animals. They need food and fresh water in the morning and evening, with pasture gates being opened and closed also. A water font is at the barn so there's no need to haul buckets.
Our home is old (1870) so having someone stay is important. We don't really have any duties pertaining to the house other than keeping an eye on her. We may ask that our voice mail be checked or plants watered during the summer months. We run our home as a B&B but there will be no B&B guests while we're away.
