Ski Down Home
Great non-smoking location for outdoor recreation of skiing/running/hiking/walking/cycling/mountain biking. I work from my home office and so my critters are used to having someone to snuggle and provide affirmation. The dogs have unlimited indoor/backyard access and yet my cats are limited to indoor only. My neighbors and friend usually care for my critters when I have short overnight trips, but I'm trying this site again for an upcoming trip.
Maybe you have vacation or a work trip and need some free exercise and snuggle buddies? Dates are flexible +1 day on each end of any trips posted....
Mountains a short drive away and a thriving small city downtown provide quaint experiences if you've never considered visiting Idaho.
Fast Wi-Fi, kitchen is fully stocked, bathroom has a regular tub and shower, and hardwood floors in living area. Guest bedroom for you with Queen bed. Central heat keeps the place comfortable in this older home.
Lastly, I have a programmable drip coffee pot, coffee bean grinder, tea kettle, and tea pots - the essentials! + More info
Our Home & Location
The home is all hardwood floors in the living areas and I prefer a shoes off environment.
I would expect minimal cleaning as if its your own home as the fur tends to accumulate. The washer/dryer is fully available. The piano has one broken key and might be out of tune, but fun to play....
Feeding is simple for the dogs, and their 'treats' time is actually medication and dental habits. Feeding for the cats is limited to keep them from gaining weight. I usually scoop their litter box every 2-3 days, and occasionally help them 'cover up' when they miss scratching the litter over their deposit.
Walking the dogs will be an on-leash adventure only. They both do well on-leash, even though they get excited. Though my dogs are older, they are used to going 3-5 miles a day and plenty of naps! They have beds and blankets and toys to keep them happy.
Boise downtown is about 3 miles away, lots of historic and nightlife and foods/breweries to be discovered. I can provide a full tourguide suggestions list according to your interests. The airport is about a 20 minute drive or a 15-20$ taxi ride. We are in high desert climate here, so evenings cool off and afternoons can get hot in the sun during the Summer. The backyard is always cool in the evenings and mornings. There is parking in front of my home on the street, but due to the growing city we have here, I highly suggest to always lock your car and my home when you're not using/inside.
Grocery store within 1 mile, churches all around, bars/breweries, and delicious pizza close by.
I have books and puzzles and boardgames available. IF you plan to be gone more than 8-10 hours, please notify my neighbor so she can help let the dogs in/out for potty breaks. They hate thunderstorms and rain so if it is stormy, please leave them inside. This is a quiet and older neighborhood, but we aren't fancy. My critters and I live simply and enjoy the outdoor adventures that await us. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Though some people prefer a car, the area is completely walkable - and I do have two bicycles and their locks to let you use.
As earlier discussed responsibilities vary depending how long I'm away, but for longer trips: light vacuum 2-3 times a week, scoop kitty litter every 2-3 days, and walk my dogs no less than 1 time per day....
Nimbus (cat) has the loudest purr and the biggest belly. Cielo (cat) is his half-brother and demands attention with his talkative nature. Cielo gets fed first with one scoop of dry food, 1/6 a can of wet food smashed into the dry food, and one medicine tablet broken up over the whole dish. I have to play guard to keep Nimbus from jumping up to push him out of the way. Once Cielo jumps down the first time, I let Nimbus have at the rest of the dish for one minute, then I put up the food. Cielo will come back and look for the food - sometimes needs lifting up - and I put the food back down for him. After he finishes the second time, I don't limit Nimbus anymore.
I freshen the inside and outside water daily and toss the stale water on the front roses.
The dogs are allowed unlimited food. Thunder (dog) needs a tennis ball in the food dish to eat. Tennis balls are unlimited with him and if you want to toss the ball for him, you will need a second ball to get him to drop the first ball.
The dogs get one biscuit and 1 medicine tablet in the morning. They get 1/2 a dental bone and 1 medicine tablet at night before bed. Thunder may bark at delivery people and anyone who knocks, but usually he is easily comforted.
The dogs walk fabulous on-leash and know: wait, sit, back-it-up, wanna go outside?, goodnight, good morning, walk, out-of-the-kitchen, no, good girl/boy. When outside they like to howl for sirens and bark at the delivery people. They get along perfect with the cats. But they need to be talked to as you walk up to the house, Thunder protects the house and needs to know that you belong there with your voice. I can leave some tennis balls in the mailbox and a few treats for the cases that seems too loud for your comfort. Yelling at either of my dogs will not go well. Gracie will cower and have anxiety and Thunder will just get louder. Lol Remember, these are like toddlers and teenagers in a dog's body. They are great kids but sometimes a little patience goes a long ways!
The cats are not allowed outside. Cielo will beg and try to be sneaky, he knows how to dart out the backdoor and also pry it open if its not latched.
Enjoy your time in Boise! + More info
