Holidays in Chicago with a dog named Finn
Hello! My husband, Dirk, and I are looking for a dog lover who will stay in our home and take care of our dog, Finley (Finn), while we're away for vacation. About Finn - he's a happy, sweet, and active dog during daylight hours, but then he is mellow and quiet as soon as the sun sets. In the morning we walk him at our local park and beach - he loves to play fetch with a tennis ball and there are a lot of other dog owners out at this time (usually between 7 and 9 am). His quirks: he's high energy in the morning, he also likes to chase squirrels and rabbits (but will listen to "leave it" command), he barks when someone knocks on our door or sometimes when he hears people out in hallway. Overall he's a sweetheart and very friendly.
Our Home & Location
Our home is on north side of Chicago, just 2 blocks north of Loyola University and 1/2 block from Lake Michigan. Our home is a 2100 sf spacious top floor condo and it's also a 4th floor walk-up. Although we've lived in this neighborhood for 14 years, we recently bought this home and only recently moved in. We just completed some renovations. There is a master bedroom (king size bed), guest bedroom (queen size bed), den (TV room), 2 full bathrooms, formal dining room, kitchen, home office, sunroom, in-unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, and enclosed back porch. Our home is close to great public transportation (Chicago Transit Authority Red Line - Loyola stop and 147 express bus) that can take you to downtown Chicago (about 30 minutes to the "Magnificent Mile") or to Evanston (home of Northwestern University), which is just 10 minutes north of us. There are ample restaurants, bars, coffee shops, grocery stores, a movie theater, and many other places within a few minutes walking distance from our home.
Responsibilities & Pets
Four walks per day. Morning walk includes fetch with tennis ball by our local beach (weather permitting, of course). Lunchtime walk, dinnertime walk, and a quick pee walk just before bed. There are designated places for him to "go" and we have eco friendly poop bags, which need to be disposed of in our garbage dumpster in the alley. He eats in the morning and at dinnertime and we give him a treat after each walk. In the evening, he likes to sleep on the couch or on our bed for a little while in the evening, but then he usually finds his way to the floor for the majority of the night.
