One Loving Dog and Close to Chicago
We live in a beautiful western suburb of Chicago and are only three blocks from the Metra train that can take you into downtown Chicago.
We have a 10 year old beagle mix rescue dog named Ramone. He is rather set in his routines, which are simple: 1) a walk first thing in the morning followed by breakfast, 2) another walk around 5pm followed by dinner, and 3) a quick letting out in the backyard before a treat and bed. Oh, and as much petting as he can get. If you want to bring your own dog, Ramone is comfortable with dogs that are smaller than he is (37 lbs) and are easy going. Sorry, no cats. We are allergic to them....
We are seeking a mature, trustworthy, non-smoking individual to stay at our house and look after Ramone. You will have access to high-speed internet, TV (local stations, Netflix, and Hulu), full kitchen with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, all living areas, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and two twin beds which can be made into a king size if requested. The backyard is fenced and has a gas grill.
In addition to pet care, we ask that you water the garden and flowers (in season), bring in packages, take trash cans to the curb and back, and leave the house in the same condition as you found it.
Our goal is to have peace of mind about Ramone while we are gone and, to that end, we would also like you to be responsive when we check in from time-to-time.
We would appreciate references. Thank you and please feel free to get in touch with questions at any time. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live in a 125-year-old home that is updated and comfortable. You will have your own bedroom and bathroom as well as use of all the communal spaces and backyard deck. We are a 3-block walk to the train station (into Chicago) as well as restaurants and shops in downtown Elmhurst. A beautiful park and library is a 2-block walk.
Responsibilities & Pets
-- 1) first thing in morning (7-8 a.m.) for about 20-30 minutes and expect 1-2 poops , 2) late afternoon (4:00 – 6:00) for about 20-30 minutes and expect 1-2 poops, 3) before bedtime, take into back yard (8:30 – 10:00) – no poop.
Ramone is more interested in smelling things than in exercise! He often reacts negatively to larger dogs, so we avoid them. He is very good with smaller dogs. In any case, he is very interested in smelling where any dogs have been.
After morning walk – generous 1/2 cup dog food with 1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin mixed in to food.
Prior to afternoon walk – 15 mg of Acid Reducer in ½ teaspoon of peanut butter
After afternoon walk – generous 1/2 cup dog food with 1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin mixed in to food.
After backyard visit and before bed – 1 Grain-free Greenie (in pantry)
Warning , after his bedtime treat, he often gets a second wind and runs around the house with 3+ toys in his mouth hoping you will chase him. Often he will whine until you do!...
**Heath issues** Ramone is an older gentleman of at least 10 years. His lower back can give him problems and you will know that when he has trouble climbing stairs. + More info
