Dog sitter for a sweet 60 lb. pit mix
We live in Lexington, Kentucky and have 1 very sweet, mellow dog, Ramona. We need occasional sitters while we travel. Our dog is used to me working from home, so we'd prefer someone who would be home at least occasionally during the day and of course staying at the house overnight. She's a super sweet, low maintenance, quiet dog who is a rescue around 9 years old and 60 pounds. Ramona won't wake you up early or keep you up late. In fact, you'll probably forget she's there unless she's nudging your hand for some attention, and that's only if you've already started petting her. Otherwise, she's probably curled on her dog bed napping. She adores attention, isn't crazy about other dogs or cats, and loves walks. Ramona is a miracle dog, rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas and sent to California, then transported to Oregon, where we got her. She unexpectedly went paralyzed in her back legs then made a miraculous recovery over about 8 weeks. Now, the only remnants of her paralysis are a cute little wiggle when she walks and a curvy spine. We need at least the dates listed but staying a few days before or after is also fine as we have a self contained apartment (with a kitchenette) in our finished walkout basement. We can provide tickets to the Kentucky Horse Park and Children's Museum should you be interested.
Our Home & Location
Lexington is a great college town with plenty to see and explore! We live in a neighborhood with sidewalks, walking distance to a large park, and convenient to many shops and restaurants a 5 minute drive away. We have a fenced yard with an elevated deck and a patio. There's a gas fireplace and gas stove. We have high speed internet and a 60 inch ultrahd tv as well as another large hdtv in the downstairs. There's a golf course behind our house so no neighbors right behind us, though it's not currently being used as a golf course but provides nice walking trails. There's a nice public golf course a 5 minute drive away and a new YMCA nearby. We're 15-20 minutes from downtown and the University of Kentucky. There are many horse farms a short drive away and the college town of Lexington offers a plethora of breweries and distilleries, a few wineries (who knew Kentucky had wine?!), restaurants, and shops. Keeneland, the Kentucky Horse Park, the UK Arboretum, Old Friends Animal Sanctuary (retired race horses), AllTech Brewing and Distilling, and Raven Run Nature Sanctuary are all within 25 minutes. We have 2 young children, and Ramona is very good with kids, though she is not good with other animals. We do have a crib, pack n play, kids toys, etc.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feeding, walking, letting outside in the fenced yard (she will wander off if you let her loose, so the fence is key and a leash and on walks), getting in mail, watering plants.
