Sweet, large dog, and a playful cat, and a bird, all in a quiet neighborhood near vibrant square
We are looking for someone to stay in our home and take care of our dog, cat, and bird, as well as do some basic yard and garden care (mowing, watering depending rainfall, maybe some weeding if inspired).
Our Home & Location
This is a 2-family Queen Victorian home with a small backyard. We are on the top 2 floors with 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We live in a quiet neighborhood in an urban area a 5-minute walk from a vibrant square with restaurants, a May-November farmers' market, a separate winter market, and parks and a 10-minute walk from a grocery store. Boston and Harvard Square (with universities, museums, restaurants, the Red Sox) are easily accessible by public transportation. Beaches are a 20-50 minute drive, depending where you go.
Responsibilities & Pets
Daily dog care (feeding, walking, playing). Brushing every few days. Depending on date, he may need to be given flea and tick and heartworm medication that comes in the form of a treat he adores. Boris is a total people dog and likes to be wherever people are. He can be alone for hours but definitely prefers company and being with his people. He likes walks and chasing sticks but should not go on serious runs. He does not like water very much, though mist from a hose is pretty fun.
Daily cat care (feeding, litter cleaning, petting). Raisin is mellow and playful. She likes to play with laser pointers and other toys....
Sunshine needs to have his cage cleaned every day and to have food and water changed daily, as well. Cleaning is pretty simple and just requires changing the papers at the bottom of the cage. We are working on getting him comfortable enough to sit on our fingers but at this point he doesn't like to be touched. If you can coerce him to come out of his cage, he will happily walk around the house. Getting him back in can be tricky still. We shut Raisin and Boris into other rooms if we are going to get Sunshine out. He also needs to have his cage covered at night and the sheet removed in the morning.
If an emergency occurred, our vet is in town, and could be reached via car (manual transmission).
Weekly indoor plant watering.
Seasonal lawn and garden care as needed (watering, weeding, lawn mowing, snow shoveling).
Indoor basic cleaning since dog hair gets everywhere quickly.
We also compost, both worm and regular bin. These are easily explained or a friend can come do the worm care.
Weekly taking trash and recycling bins to curb for pick up. + More info
