May 2019 Travel - Need Sitter for Two Dogs
The two of us are headed to Spain in May 2019. We have learned over time that our dogs fare better when they stay at home when we travel, rather than heading to a kennel. I know a couple who travel internationally through TrustedHousesitters, and I reached out to them for information on how to find a house- and pet-sitter for our upcoming trip.
Our Home & Location
Our home is in a residential development which is located within two miles of our small town, Saline, and within 10 miles of Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is the home of the University of Michigan. Our property occupies about 1.5 acres. We have four bedrooms, of which two may be used, and 2.5 baths. Over 3000 sq ft in all. We are less than 30 miles west of Detroit Metro Airport. Ann Arbor, as a college town, offers many cultural attractions, a great atmosphere, and many great restaurants. Saline also has some great options. Historical attractions in Dearborn and opportunities in Detroit itself are also within 45 miles.
Responsibilities & Pets
Scooter and Luci are "house dogs." We take them out on their leashes for walks and to do their business. We routinely bag and dispose of droppings when they go out, to keep the yard clean. Scooter is our sweet old boy, and as such he takes medications twice daily - easily done with a slice of cheese! He also gets eye drops for allergies. Luci is our baby, she keeps the energy level up. Both just love to hang out with us. We put them in their inside kennel pens when we are away, and they can do that for 8-to-9 hour stints. We'll get the yard cared for, so no worries there. Our big ask is to take care of and attend to the dogs, hang with them, and enjoy the time and our area.
