Comforts of Home in Montana
I'm a semi retired telecom tech, living in rural Montana. Steve is a school district business manager. We travel occasionally. Love to hike, ride, snow shoe, road trip and garden.
Our Home & Location
Our home is surrounded by a couple cabins and the Helena National Forest; the Continental Divide trail is just above to the west; small stream flows through the property; 35 miles to Helena; lots of hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, kayaking; a lovely comfortable place to relax.
Home is 2 bedroom, 2 bath, living, dining, wood stove, radiant heat, outside deck and patio, fire pit, 2 car garage, 5.5 fenced acres. Includes garden and green house, and another cabin near stream....
This property is 12 miles up a dirt road and very rural. Although there are a couple neighbors and ranches nearby, a house sitter needs to be rather self sufficient to stay here. The last 2 miles of road are only maintained by us, so winter access can be interesting. House sitters need to know there can be bears, mountain lions, and wolves in the surrounding forest. Hikers & XC skiers should carry bear spray. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
One cat and two large dogs. Murphy is a Great Pyrenees and Finnegan is an Irish Wolfhound. The house includes a dog door so pets come and go as they please. The 5.5 acre property is surrounded by an invisible dog fence so dogs stay on the property. Except for feeding, the pets are very self sufficient. The dogs sure appreciate a good hike though. The lawn, garden and green house are on irrigation timers; some garden pots need hand watered.
