Perfect cottage for a winter retreat. Quiet , full of character a nature lovers paradise in 80 acres of wooded land.
We are a semi-retired couple living in the rural foothills of the White Mountains. We are non-smoking, contemplative, and artistic and our home is a reflection of that. We love our 2 spirited terriers and are looking for someone who loves dogs as much as we do. We also have 5 heritage chickens that need very little care (more details on that later).
We own a cafe in Bristol, the nearest town, which is a friendly lively hangout on weekends. The house is modest, an open plan living dining area with a sleeping loft and small bedroom reachable by a small spiral staircase. It is a wonderful place for a winter break! Almost certainly guaranteed snow, but we have a contract with a plow guy so no worries.
Our Home & Location
Our house is set on 80 secluded, wooded acres. It's about 1100 sq ft with radiant heat and wood stove, 2 person air bath, king bed and LOTS of light. The location is set back from the road and is very quiet. The land is 80 acres of hilly woods, streams, and beaver ponds with lots of trails for hiking and snowshoeing. It is 6 miles from town. We have lots of places to hang out including a large garden a fairly deep swimming pond and a covered deck. Pardise for nature lovers. In winter there is the sun room, and the window seat to read and watch the bird feeder.
Responsibilities & Pets
We're looking for caring people who love small dogs to take care of our 'girls' as well as 5 chickens and our home. Kayla, the oldest is deaf. Sasha the youngest has an eating disorder :) She will eat Kayla's food and just about anything else she can find. We expect that sitter(s) would be primarily living at home to take care of the dogs and the house. The chickens just need to be let out of the coop into their run in the mornings and then returned to the coop at dusk.
