Rural small Adobe home on 800 acre ranch in northern New Mexico
We are Amira and John, a retired couple who are presently caretaking the property owner's wife who has Alzheimer's disease (She lives in her own house and will not be part of your duties.). We are taking about 9 days off at the end of August to visit friends in northern California.
Our Home & Location
The house, 8 miles north of Lindrith, NM, is a small adobe built in 1934. It has one bath with a tub and a shower. There is a small but well equipped kitchen. No aluminum or teflon. The house is on an 800 wooded acre ranch located 19 miles up a paved dead-end road . The house is very basic with no A/C , telephone, stereo, radio, or television. There is a swimming pool on the property that you can use and it is a great place for hiking. Wildlife abounds. There is a rather slow wi-fi connection, ok for surfing but not so hot for downloading. The closest gas station is about 24 miles and the closest actual town, Cuba, is 35 miles. If you are into organic or health foods, bring enough for your stay or you will have to drive to Santa Fe or Albuquerque (both a little over 2 hours away) for supplies. So, yes, you will need your own transportation.

Responsibilities & Pets
Our housemate, Jade Kitty, will need to be fed, and being fairly social, she will enjoy your attention and affection. She is an indoor kitty, loves to go outdoors, but is clueless and non-responsive once out the door. There is a fenced in space in back of the house where she likes to hang out. She is not a climber so never goes over the fence.
We have a small straw bale garden and a few house plants that will appreciate some water or misting, but mainly your time will be your own. We will be leaving early on August 22 so you will need to be here sometime before bedtime on the 21st.
