Have a lakeside adventure in Buffalo

There's so much more to New York house sitting than just Manhattan! Buffalo is one of the state's lesser-known gems. Set on the shores of Lake Erie, this city is close to Niagara Falls. Be sure to visit the waterfalls. Take a boat trip for the best possible views! Downtown Buffalo is a city with a long history and lots of interesting buildings. The Martin House, built by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is open to the public, while the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site is a truly fascinating museum. This was where Teddy Roosevelt was unexpectedly sworn into office, following the assassination of his predecessor, William McKinley.

Visit Albany, the state capital

New York's capital city is a hidden gem on the Hudson River, with dozens of interesting places to explore. The New York State Capitol offers guided tours and has a stunning reflecting pool. You can also take a guided tour of the docked USS Slater, a warship that was used during the Second World War, or of the Schuyler Mansion, an old estate where you can explore Revolutionary War history. If you're looking after a dog in New York, grab your leash and head to Washington Park. This lovely historic park houses a full calendar of events throughout the year. It's at its best in the spring, when the gardens of colorful tulips are in bloom.
