Pet Sitter Team wanted for small sanctuary
We are a couple who has a small cat and dog non-profit sanctuary ( along with 2 other businesses ). Given our typical busy schedules, we enjoy getting away a few times a year, but need reliable house/pet sitters to watch over our flock.
Our Home & Location
We live in an eleven-room farmhouse with a barn on 15 acres in the Finger Lakes area of central New York State in the village of Penn Yan. Being 2 miles from Keuka Lake, allows opportunities for hiking, boating and swimming in warm weather and hiking, wine tours, and cross country skiing in not-so-warm-weather. We live near at least 20 wineries with vineyards, and have Amish and Mennonite farm families for neighbors. Penn Yan is about 1 hour from the cities of Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, and Ithaca.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have a small official non- profit animal sanctuary (a 501.c.3 ---for those of you who know what that is) with approximately 20 cats and 6 dogs (if we travel---some may be kennelled separately or travel with us) . These animals are at our sanctuary due to circumstances that have made them "un-adoptable". Some of the cats are feral and aloof, most are cuddly, some young, some elderly----all are neutered. They have a home with us for life if they cannot be adopted. Some have access to the main house, which has a large high-ceiling multi-room basement, and all have access to a large fenced-in cat yard. The dogs have a 1/2 acre run and a heated barn. Responsibilities for the sitters would include litter box dumping, feeding, basic cleaning and plenty of loving. We have developed systems that make this easier, but it still requires physical work. This may not be for everyone, but can be a great and rewarding experience for the right people. We offer good pay for a team of two or more people who fit the bill.
