Two Cats Need Affection in Rural Central New York State
Dates may be flexible, please ask.
Hi, we are Hildy and Ron. We are cat owners and pet lovers. They are our family and we want them to remain in the only home they know, where they feel safe and protected....
We are a semi-retired professional couple who love traveling. We have an online business so are flexible with our schedule. We are in our mid-sixties, non smokers, love nature and animals, and enjoy life. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live in a comfortable, casual (not fancy) rural country home located in Western New York near Corning. This is farm country near the Finger Lakes, which is beautiful and populated with many vineyards, wineries, and breweries. We are about 25 minutes from the city of Corning and the famous Corning Museum of Glass. We are less than an hour from Watkins Glen where Seneca Lake and the stunning Watkins Glen State Park are located. Ithaca, the home of Cornell University, is about an hour and a half away. There is much to do and see in the area, but a car is necessary to see the sights, shop, dine out, etc... Our house is in a peaceful rural location so it is amenable to a retreat type of stay as well. We have high speed internet service. However, we do not have television service, but do have a nice television set that you can watch DVD videos on.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have two adorable (of course, aren't they all?) adult cats, one female and one male. Pippi Longstocking, the girl, is very small, shy around strangers, and has a very bubbly playful personality once she is comfortable around you. Gandalph, the male, is on the normal to large size, has beautiful green eyes, and is the more friendly mellow of the two. He can be cuddly...or not, depending on his mood.
Responsibilities include keeping their water bowl clean and full, feeding them usually twice per day, and sometimes a "snack" if they succeed in making you believe they are hungry (which they are very good at).
The feeding schedule is flexible should you wish to be away from the house for a greater number of hours in a day. They are indoor/outdoor cats and will need to be let in and out manually as we do not have a cat door in order to keep the critters out. They only go out during daylight hours and will need to be kept inside once it is dark. The debris in the litter boxes (2) will need to be scooped out about once per day, and completely changed about once a week. Lots of loving affectionate attention is preferred if they are "in the mood"....
The house should be treated like it was your own, with respect for keeping it reasonably tidy and clean. No smoking inside, please. It is preferable that the mail be brought in every day. And relax and enjoy your stay! + More info
