House Sitter Needed
My name is Michael, my dog's name is Artie and we are new residents of Ashland.
We're still moving into our new house, so there's bound to be some boxes still unpacked, but they will be mostly upstairs....
I'm a songwriter and composer. I work mainly in television, these days with the Jim Henson Company although I have a long history with Disney as well. If you want to Google me and my work with my former wife but also current collaborator Patty Silversher, you can see and hear our stuff under the name "Silversher & Silversher."
I also have done a lot of work in theatre; I was founding resident composer and musical director of the Children's Theatre @ the Sundance Institute in Utah from 1991-1996, and have worked with the Mark Taper Forum, South Coast Rep, LA Opera and the Kennedy Center.
I love the creative atmosphere here in Ashland, the people, the air and the environment of the place and Artie and I are looking forward to being here for a long time.
But I have one last doctor's appointment in LA in August and United Airlines has a newer, stricter set of forms to fill out, so Artie (who is my official Emotional Support Dog) will not be going with me this time.
I've only been here three weeks and i don't have a therapist to fill out the airline's forms so that we can go together. I'm quite sad and anxious about it, but I have a friend who has used Trusted Sitters before and absolutely raves about the service, so i know i can trust whoever comes to sit with Artie through them.
That would be you, I think!!

Our Home & Location
Our home was built in 1944, and remodeled extensively in 1998. It's an energy-efficient house, with solar panels on the roof of the main house and a huge photo-voltaic array on the garage roof as well, so there's solar heating and lighting all year long. It's passive too, so all you have to do is use t like you would any house.
As I said, we're still moving in, but i hope to have the downstairs nice and comfy for guests by the time i go away. The upstairs will be my library and studio soon, as well as a third bedroom for an overflow of visitors....
There's two bedrooms down stairs and two baths too as well as kitchen, dining room and living room, so most living can happen downstairs anyway.
The front and back porches are great places to sit and enjoy nature and, as for the front porch, people and dear watching. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Artie is very healthy, but I will have a little instruction page on the kitchen counter to let you know what he needs and where to find it. He's very easy going but he loves to walk a lo, I usually walk him early in the morning before breakfast, mid-afternoon (around 3:00) and in the evening, around 8:00 or 9:00.
Often I will take him to the dog park in the afternoon (I'll leave you directions on how to get there). He has a great time there and the dogs are very nice (as are their owners)....
I always put his leash and harness on him when we go out in public (I take it off at the dog park of course!), but he's very well behaved. He, being a boy, will try to mark every place, which if fine outside but you have to rein him in in shops and restaurants around town; and i will have a poop bag on the leash with new poop bags to use. There are poop bag dispensers all over town if you run out. This is a very dog-friendly city.
He gets fed twice a day: after his early morning walk and around 4:00-4:30. I'll leave instructions about what he eats and how much to give him. He gets treats when we get home from being out, and I take him everywhere.
He's getting used to the doggy door at the back door of the house, but if you're going out without him for a while, please put the sliding door in place so he won't go wandering in the back yard while you're gone.
And you'll find he loves to be hugged and petted He's very affectionate and he'll try to kiss you, which i s fine if you like it; if not he'll be fine with that as well.
He loves to play with his squeaky ball array too, after the early morning walk and some times after breakfast.
That's basically it. + More info
