Musician/Theatre Artist in N Portland seeking occasional dog/cat care in my funky little house in St. Johns
I am a musician and theatre artist living in the St. John's area of Portland. I live alone with my Chihuahua/Terrier mix (Ralphie) and my American Short-hair cat (Mary). They are both 14 and they sort of get along like an old (sometimes irritated) married couple. I have a 16 year-old son that lives with me part-time and I have numerous friends that stay with me off and on (I've got an extra bedroom and as an extrovert, I love my house to be full of people and music and art.)
I travel frequently. My last trip was to Eastern Europe. It was amazing - happy to share stories and photos! Way too much to put here. This year I'm working on planning trips to Puerto Rico, Armenia, BC, Ireland and several other short-term trips around the US. I've lived abroad and I enjoy experiencing the world! I love meeting new people. Community is super important to me....
Because I love travel and I have these two fuzzies, I am in need of people to take care of them while I'm away. My neighbors and friends are awesome and help out frequently. I'm now looking for other folks that might be interested in taking care of these lovely animals while exploring one of my favorite places in the world - PORTLAND! And one of my favorite areas of this city - ST. JOHNS! (BTW, I do Portland Walking Tours, so I'm happy to fill you in on all of the awesome things you can do here!) + More info
Our Home & Location
My home is very small and funky. It was originally built in 1920 and has been expanded a couple of times since then. There's a large master bedroom and then 2 smaller bedrooms. There's one bathroom. The livingroom is full of music: a piano, two keyboards and at least one guitar (if I'm gone, I usually take the other). The kitchen and diningroom are small as well, but the whole place is open and sunny. There's a large backyard, but I'm not a gardener, so it's pretty minimalistic. That said, there's a grill, a deck and a firepit. I'm blocks from Downtown St. Johns, Pier Park and Cathedral Park and a short walk across the bridge from Forest Park. It takes about 25 minutes by bus to get downtown (45 minutes by bike and 15 minutes driving).
Responsibilities & Pets
Ralphie loves walks. He's a little guy and just needs one walk a day generally for about 1/2 an hour. He also loves to cuddle, so if you're hanging out on the couch, he's likely to just snuggle up. Mary is a super chill indoor/outdoor lap cat. She's a love and will cuddle and even sometimes pat you with her paw if she's lacking the attention she wants. They both are fed twice a day (am and pm). Ralphie does need meds with his pm meal, but it's just mixed in with his food and he chows down without a problem. I do have a litter box inside for Mary that needs to be monitored.
