Small town living in York County, PA
Hello! My husband and I love to travel but we also love our sweet, quirky cat so we limit our trips. We are hoping to connect with people who would enjoy house sitting and cat companioning so that we can travel with peace of mind.
Our Home & Location
We live in a small town in Southern York County, Pennsylvania that is about 45 minutes from Lancaster County (famous for vibrant downtown area, outlet shopping, and Amish communities). We are also 50 minutes from Baltimore, Maryland. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping within 10 minutes drive. Within walking distance (5 minutes!) is the gorgeous York County Heritage Rail Trail (25 miles in length) which provides the perfect hiking or biking. You can also take a 5 minute walk to an excellent restaurant and taproom in a beautiful restored mill. Our house sits on a bit of a hill with pretty views to the town. It is a new home with a guest bedroom and bathroom for your comfort.
Responsibilities & Pets
We expect guests to be responsible for companionship for Oliver and his care (cleaning litter boxes and giving fresh water daily). Although Oliver is loving and adventurous with us, he is extremely shy with strangers. In fact, we have friends who don't really believe we have a cat because he hides whenever they are at the house! He will warm up to you and will want to spend time together, especially in the evening and at night. You wouldn't need to stay at the house all day, but we would expect you to spend a lot of time here so that Oliver knows he is safe. That means you would definitely need to sleep here overnight. He does have some anxiety issues and dislikes loud noises (and the front door bell...ha ha!) Because we cannot leave Oliver alone, we really need a house/pet sitter to live here while we are away. He is not the kind of cat who can deal with a neighbor just dropping in to check on him. The trash and recycling would need to be put out weekly and the plants watered. Not too much other than Oliver!
