House sit for 2 dogs in the Beautiful Texas Hill Country!
We are Ann & Steve, owners of two loving dogs - Chuy (mini dachsund) and Baxter (beagle). We are semi-retired and now live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country in Fredericksburg, TX. We are looking for a house sitter so our animals can remain in our home while we are away.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a remodeled 1900 Craftsman with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on a nice quite street. The main bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has a queen. The third bedroom is used as our office. We are about a mile (walkable) from downtown Main Street with lots of shopping, restaurants and live music.
We live in the Texas Hill Country - 1 hour from San Antonio and 1.5 hrs from Austin, TX. Both cities are very driveable. Our area attracts many tourists year-round as Fredericksburg is located in the Texas wine country. There is much to do here - visiting wineries and breweries, listening to music nightly, nice restaurants, community events (including Octoberfest, Wine & Food events, and other celebrations). In addition, both San Antonio and Austin are close by with great shopping, food, nightlife, etc. Luckenbach, the town immortalized in song by Waylon Jennings, is only 10 miles from Fredericksburg and live music happens daily....
The closest airport is San Antonio, although there are often flight deals to Austin. You will need a car to get around town as well as visit other cities. Our home is suitable for 1-2 children. We do have wi-fi access and cable TV.
Fredericksburg has been named one of 10 great small towns for family vacations by the Travel Channel AND it's perfect for a romantic getaway- CNN Travel noted Fredericksburg as one of “6 of America’s most romantic small towns” and Travel & Leisure noted Fredericksburg as one of “America’s Most Romantic Winter Destinations.” + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Our dogs are fairly low maintenance as they are both older. Our home has a doggie door so they are able to get outside to the fenced backyard. Our dogs are fed and walked twice a day (morning 7-10 am & evening 4-7 pm). They can be left alone for up to 6-8 hours. They love to snuggle on the couch and be petted. Chuy is 14 years old so she sometimes goes off her schedule and sleeps all day or doesn't eat. This is normal unless it goes on for two days. She also sometimes refuses to go for a walk. Baxter is more energetic especially when it comes to walks. Baxter also loves his food so we have to watch to be sure Chuy gets some of her food before he eats all of it. Chuy is also a snacker - she eats small amounts throughout the day. Our vet is just down the street and is walkable.
