Beach Cottage with Great Pyrenees
I am a Great Pyrenees Dog Mom. His name is Waves. He's my baby and my main squeeze. I am a Counselor and Operations Supervisor who works from home. I enjoy traveling and looking for folks that would enjoy the opportunity to visit Galveston, Texas. Caring for my Waves and watering plants outside are the main responsibilities.
Our Home & Location
My home is a small coastal cottage (700 sq/ft.), half a mile from the beach and seawall. It's walkable to restaurants and the trolley which will take you anywhere along the seawall and to the historic strand area of the island.
Galveston Island is a great place to enjoy the beaches and history of the Gulf Coast. Some of my favorite activities include: Boat Tour of the Harbour to learn about the area and see dolphins; Riding the ferry to Bolivar Pennisula; Sitting on the beach as the sun sets with toes in the sand; The historic Tremont House with live jazz music and view from roof top bar; Ferris Wheel at the end of The Pleasure Pier; Art Walk on Post Office St.; Touring historic homes; Pier 21 Theater movies on the history of Galveston; Tall Ship Ellissa; Eating great seafood and Texas BBQ.
Responsibilities & Pets
Caring for Waves is somewhat easy. He loves to be outside and napping. When it gets too hot he naps indoors with AC.
Although he is a 'Gentle Giant', he is still young and has episodes of an ornery teenager. Sitters need to be patient, yet firm with him if he tries to mouth you. Sitters need to be comfortable gently pushing him outside if he misbehaves....
Taking Waves for a short walk every morning and night keeps him in a good routine. It also keeps him fairly tired and naps most of the day.
Sitters need to keep his food available indoors and keep his water dish clean and full outside.
Sitters need to provide cuddle time each morning and night. Sitters must be comfortable sitting on the floor. Waves does not get on the furnature and really enjoys sitting next to you or snuggled between your legs.
He is up around 6:30am and settles down for the night around 10pm. He will likely want to sleep outside, which is fine. He will 'yoedel' at the door when he wants back in (although sometimes he just wants you to come out and play with him).
Waves has some severe hip and leg issues, which makes it challenging for him to do stairs. He enjoys very short walks, no longer than a block.
Oh, and he's a sniffer. He will want to smell your ears, both sides and your breath upon meeting. That's his thing :) + More info
