Pets, Trails and Trees
Our names are Bryan and Vallee. We have lived in our home for just over a year. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats. All of our pets are super sweet and friendly. We're young professionals that work in architecture and finance in Downtown Houston. Our house is a short 20 minute commute from the city center. It is situated on a greenspace that connects to the bayou trail system that runs throughout Houston.
Our Home & Location
We own a 2,000 sqft., 3 bed, 2 bath home in Near Northwest Houston. There is a well-appointed guest bedroom with a queen size bed and plenty of closet and drawer space available for guests. If you are traveling with family members, the master bedroom can also be made available for your use. Our home has a large kitchen with a glass cooktop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. If you prefer to grill, a large one is situated in the covered and screened back patio that overlooks the manicured green space. The living room has a TV with Google Chromecast hooked up, so you can stream whatever shows, movies, and music you want from your own accounts over secure high-speed wifi. There is also a washer and dryer for any laundering needs you might have during your stay.
If you enjoy walking, running, or biking, you're in luck! Our backyard accesses a green space with paths that connect to the bayou trail systems that run throughout the Houston area. In addition to trail accessibility, our home is close to many Houston landmarks. We are located within 10 minutes of 5 major highways: I-45, I-290, State Highway 249, I-610, and Beltway 8, which can get you nearly anywhere you want to go. Our house is 5 minutes from the Historic Heights Neighborhood, 15 minutes from Montrose, 15 minutes from the Galleria, 20 minutes from Downtown and the George R. Brown Convention Center, 20 minutes from East Downtown (EaDo) and the Houston Dynamo stadium, 25 minutes from Midtown, 30 minutes from NRG stadium, and 25 minutes from the Museum District and the Zoo....
Houston is a very automobile-dependent city, so renting a car or utilizing Uber is recommended. Uber is an easy and affordable option to travel around Houston, and $30 or less can get you from the house to almost any destination. For travel within the city loop (I-610), $15 or less is standard.
Houston is an incredibly diverse city and will soon be the third largest in the nation. Because of its diversity, it is also becoming known as a destination city for foodies. No matter what cuisine you're craving, you're sure to find a great dining experience to satisfy it. We would love to recommend some of our personal local favorites!
If you're looking for nightlife, Midtown and Montrose each have different yet thriving scenes. It all depends on your preference. For daytime activities, take a trip down to the Museum district to visit the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Zoo, Hermann Park with it's delightful Japanese Gardens and living sculptures, or Rice University. In Montrose, there is also the Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel to keep you cultured.
If you're interested in catching a game, Houston hosts four professional teams: The Houston Rockets (basketball), the Texans (football), the Astros (baseball), and the Dynamo (soccer). It just depends on the season!
And for those who are up for a drive, Houston is in close proximity to Galveston Island, many great fishing spots along the coast, and NASA, all of which are about an hour (or less) away. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We need someone to look after our house and pets while we are away. Responsibilities include feeding all of the pets and walking the dogs twice a day. Litter boxes and watering of plants as needed.
