Small secluded ranch East of Zion National park
We are looking for a sitter who is willing to live in our home for about 4 weeks in the winter. Some of the criteria include: No cats, only a dog that is very mellow with cats and other animals; must be willing and know how to operate a wood burning stove; be willing to feed and water the animals twice a day, including feeding and watering the wild birds; clean a litter box for one cat; keep the house clean and warm; follow rules for septic tank maintenance; follow hot tub rules and maintain hot tub; shovel and plow snow; be willing to send an update email once a day.
Our Home & Location
The house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is equipped with a propane furnace but the preferable heat source is a wood burning stove. Some winters it snows a lot and we provide a 4 Wheel drive truck with chains and a plow to keep driveway clear of snow. The county is usually very prompt to plow the county road which is 3 miles to Hwy. 9. Sometimes there are power outages that can last several days. The house is on a well which requires electricity but there is a hand pump which can be used to get water without power. There is a landline with unlimited long distance, wifi and direcTV.
Responsibilities & Pets
Shadow is a sweet, fairly independent but sensitive and loving indoor cat who goes outside. He does not like other cats. He prefers a quiet environment and likes his morning canned food mixed with a little warm water :)
We feed the wild birds a cup of seed in the morning and give them fresh water. They are fun to watch from the dining room window....
The little goaties, Phyllis and Stella, are quite naughty but very funny and easy to care for. The alpaca, Waco, watches over them diligently.
The horses, Cimmaron and Mo both get buckets twice a day as well as hay. They are both healthy and friendly.
The barn cats are feral but they have a wonderful space in the barn with heating pads and a nice big hay stack. Boris is a black cat and he is much tamer than Maude. They get food and fresh water twice a day. + More info
