Skiing in beautiful northern Vermont
How about spending Christmas and New Year in gorgeous northern Vermont and experience a northeastern winter.
We are a Swiss couple in our early sixties, and want to spend some time with family back in Switzerland. Our house, a very cosy log-house, sits on 20 acres, and overlooks Lake Memphremagog, located only a few miles from the Canadian border.
Our Home & Location
The nearest shopping is about 8 minutes drive which is a great little health food store right down-town Newport. Some larger supermarkets can be found within just a few more minutes driving. There are some nice restaurants nearby as well.
More shopping possibilities and restaurants can be found across the border in Magog, Province of Quebec, Canada, which we consider quite attractive....
To walk the dogs you don't necessarily have to go anywhere. The property is large enough to do it right there. Of course there are other options as well but would require a short drive.
As a special bonus in our house we can offer a sauna, which is wonderful on a cold winter day!
There is high speed internet throughout the house, and a car is provided if needed.
You will find great skiing possibilitiesin the area , down hill and cross country, as well as an ice rink and water park. Snowshoeing is another great winter activity which can be done right on the property. (snowshoes are provided). + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Our main concern is the well-being of our two dogs. Both dogs need to be medicated. Bubba has hip issues, older age related, and Chips has a condition called Diabetes Insipitus. However, they take their pills as if they were the best treats ever. Other than that they are perfectly happy and healthy.
We would like to come back to a house which has been kept clean and tidy and with all our plants still alive. There won't be anything to do outside, except maybe just a bit of snow shoveling (or blowing) here and there. The plowing of the drive way is taken care of and the garden is sleeping....
We also own two horses, but they are boarded nearby and are therefore taken care of. However, if you like, you could go to the barn occasionally and spend some time with them, either just grooming or, if you happen to be a rider, could certainly ride as well.
